Russians need the land because Ukraine is a existential threat to the stability of their peaceful a fully democratic company.

To be honest, it's kind of a lose/lose situation for Ukraine. The US has said they won't support Ukraine during an invasion because it's not a member of NATO:

I guess just same old, same old dance: slap Russia with more "sanctions" (that do nothing except hurt ordinary people and diplomatic relations)....meanwhile Europe and US continue to take dark money from Russian oligarchs and everything continues as normal. I heard they might ban Russia from SWIFT but Russia has been preparing for that for years, they started their own banking systems and have been investing into that, so it will have a minimal impact at best and will have zero effect on the off-shore advanced trusts that oligarchs that the powerful use....will just make life more hell for ordinary Russian people who have international banking needs.

 

In my opinion, chances of Russia actually invading Ukraine is very low. There's not really any benefit in it and there's no support from Russian people to invade Ukraine. Crimea was a whole separate matter with its own complicated history, invading into mainland Ukraine has little to no support from the Russian people.

Not defending Russia but this talk I have been hearing the last couple days from both Republicans and Democrats about preemptively nuking Russia is concerning to say the least.

I think those people need a check up from the neck up and should go revisit their history books. The only senator I saw spewing such nonsense was Republican Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker:
