How to apply for tourists visa if your family doesn’t have any proof of income from the Philippines

Hi everyone, I just wanna ask if anybody knows how to apply for tourists visa for my mother. We don’t have any business or any bank account to prove so I don’t know if they gonna deny if I apply for her. She’s 64 years old and she’s not working, she’s a housewife. Any insights, thanks..

I was planning to petition her but she’s hesitant to come here that’s why I was thinking if it’s ok to try for tourists visa first. But I think you have to have some kind of money or income.. Idk

She can apply for a Tourist Visa but not something you do, well you can help her fill the form in but the process is pretty simple.

YOU can't apply for her tourist visa. She applies on her own. Nobody can apply or sponsor a US tousist visa.

You mom can only show what she has so she must be honest.

She sounds like a big risk for immigrant intent, so it is unlikely she would get a tourist visa.  But, she can apply.  There is no sponsorship.  She would need to show strong ties to home.

Thanks for all your responses guys, and your help. I really appreciate it. I think it will be difficult to get her approved for tourist visa. Maybe the only option is to petition her, I’m just so sad that it’s hard to get approved for tourist visa especially if your poor or you have nothing to show the embassy. I want her to visit the US and experience how it’s like here and maybe she can decide if she wanted to live here someday or what. But anyway thanks again guys and have a happy thanksgiving to all.. stay safe and God bless everyone 😊

Not how this works, as there is no petition from a US citizen or legal resident for her.  She simply applies for a US tourist visa on her own.  Having immediate relatives in the US will make it difficult for her to get one, especially if her ties to her home country are weak.  The only risk is the application fee, so I recommend that she give it a try and see what happens.  Good luck!

Don't petition someone who isn't even sure if they want to live in the US. It is 10x more expensive and requires much more paperwork than the tourist visa application.

Is there any tie she has back to the PI that she can show, such as grandchildren she takes care of or a spouse who she is the caregiver for? Those would probably be the only hope to contrast against the tie of US citizen daughter living in the States.

A bank account or statements is not required but they do ask who is paying for the trip. If someone else pays for the trip, it can raise suspicion but it's not the only deciding factor, they look at the big picture. I've known 2 people who successfully for B visas despite someone else paying for the trip.

They're mainly interested in why she would go back to her home country, so if she has some reason to return, it's best to focus on that. It probably would've been easier for her to get a visa prior to you becoming a US citizen, as now she has a path to immigrate through you. That is the hard part to overcome, the assumption that she will just stay and adjust through you. If you don't mind the long wait and risking the $160 fee, she can try but expect a denial due to immigrant risk.

She is 64 retired and no money so sounds like any move to the US will be funded by OP.  Maybe financially she can afford it but most people could not.

Not only that, but if she is poor, she will have a rough go of it here in the US, even if you're paying for everything.

Thanks to all for enlightening me, I know aging in the US is not cheap. My husband always tell me “don’t get old in America” and it’s true. Especially now that the world is different, I became a US citizen before the Covid started and I was planning to get my parents here with me but the pandemic started

Yes, there is a huge backlog because during Covid, the only tourist visas granted are for emergencies.  Pre-Covid, it was probably a month or two.

Oh I see, my dad died from covid last august coz he had underlying health problems 😔 and I didn’t have the chance to see him or go back to Philippines due to restrictions 😭 that’s why I’m asking here if it’s easy to get tourists visa for my mom so she can visit me here and experience how it was
