  1. Please help me. What format can I write the letter in, what do I need to attach with it and make sure is in the mail? I was supposed to receive a prima facie extension but I haven't even though I always got one when I had an attorney. Also should I send it to their new address or the one on the mails they send me? I am trying to write Vermont to tell them I need my mails forwarded to me instead of my former attorney. someone please help me
  2. They said they did. Do i still need to send in one as well? Does anyone know the address where i need to send it to? The Vermont address they had before
  3. Can someone help me. How do I write to Vermont to send all mails to me instead of my good for nothing attorney? I’ve been trying to get a hold of my attorney to talk to her on the phone since March and no response back. I basically have to send over 10 emails and calls to the office to even get my newest prima facie document sent to me. recently she was like I’m being disrespectful by not waiting till when she feels like talking to me, so i did her and myself a favor and fired her from my case. i need to write a letter to Vermont to inform them but I’m not sure how to write it or where to send it to. any help is greatly appreciated.
  4. Is there someone who has experience filling their own application who can help me step by step on how to file my own adjustment packet? My insane attorney decided to charge me $2500 more, $3500 if i request fee waiver, just to file and not even to attend the interview for adjustment if I’m requested to go. #######!!! As if me asking for fee waiver means i have more money to spend on her. i have never filed anything on my own and i need all the help i can find.
  5. So you were approved just a few weeks ago? Was your vawa emotional or physical abuse based? I want to, so i can get work permit. I have not had a work permit for all these years.
  6. Omg! I cannot imagine 16yrs. We will see them soon God willing. I’ve not seen mine in 6yrs and I’m about to break down. It’s torture
  7. Gotcha. I don’t blame you for not wanting to leave. I’m right there with you. On one hand i miss my family and would be nice to see them but on the other I’m like at what cost? When i can wait a year longer to see them in peace? This journey is so hard.
  8. Any RFE? How long after termination of proceedings did you file and receive your co9 work permit? Did you apply for travel permit too? would you even travel outside the US with an advance parole after terminating removal proceedings? sorry, too many questions
  9. Have you been approved yet? For vawa? I applied Aug 2021. Has anyone from 2021 been approved yet?
  10. Yes, my case was based on asylum. And it was first put in administrative closure and then my lawyer emailed the prosecutors so they can jointly file motion to terminate. They didn’t object so it was closed. I am happy to be away from immigration court. I’m nervous whether to file I485 before vawa approval because what if I don’t get approved and end up in removal again? It’s nerve wracking.
  11. What’s your timeline? When did you file VAWA? Did you get RFE. was it extreme cruelty/emotional abuse based or physical abuse based?
  12. Thank you so much. I will start preparing that ASAP! If they approve my combo card before vawa is adjudicated, would it be ok to travel out of the country? Seeing as how i was in removal before?
  13. On today’s Topic of wins and frustrations with lawyers, allow me to share. Win: My removal proceedings have been terminated with just a prima facie. This is a MAJOR WIN for me because i have been i removal and feeling paralyzed since 2018. Frustration: I had to push my lawyer to file for the prosecutorial discretion. It’s been pending for MONTHS! The last update i had was in January and it was still pending. I had to email my lawyer, 3 times the past week, to get an update on the case. Come to find out, it’s been terminated since Feb 8 and she didn’t tell me. I could’ve already filed 485 and a damn work permit by now but she kept the info to herself. This is because she knows I’m not filling those with her. I’ll do it on my own. We had an agreement before she took my case to pay $4500 for the whole process including filing I360, termination of removal and eventually filing I485 and going to interview. But, she decided to changer her mind midway, and was like “Noo, you’ll have to pay $2500 more for the I485 part” which I declined so whatever! Verdict: I’m happy but so frustrated as well. Can you awesome people help me on how i can file these things on my own?
  14. My contract says for I-360 and AoS. I even have a welcome to the firm email sent to me from them that details the payment structure and what I’m paying for and it say’s attorney fees for I-360 and I-485 is $4,000 and you will pay $1,225 for I-485 when we get to submitting it. Now this paralegal is sending me this whole sheet of how they have done so much for my case including updates with the court and has broken all the fees down to show that I have used up $4,900 up to now. I’m not with the BS to be honest. I am so mad at their nerve. It’s not like my being in removal was a secret. I told her straight at the consultation and my previous attorney who represented me and my husband called her to ask her to take my Vawa case. So updating the court goes without saying and shouldn’t be made into this whole thing of we did extra work for you blah blah BS I was not aware fees would change mid process and they would scrutinize everything and break fees down. I have asked her twice now to schedule a meeting with the attorney herself and she’s being hesitant on doing it. I’m sorry for the long rant and my language but I am just boiling inside.
