Hi. Congratulations, I'm very happy for you, and thanks a lot for sharing your timeline. Regarding the 12 month estimate, it's for the whole process (including getting your visa), so the 9.5 months for the approval seems pretty logical.

On another note, I filed on Sep 12th, 8 days after you, so seeing your message here made me very happy. Thanks.

Hi, you got the approval?

Hello. Does anyone know how long it takes from approval to an interview date? I checked the timelines and there were a minimum of 6-month gap and there were numerous cases with 8 months or even a year before the interview. So my question is does it take this long? or perhaps the ones who got their interview dates soon did not update their timeline or something.

Unless you get an expedite you are going to have to wait a bit 😕 you will need to get DQ and then wait for your interview letter which in total can take a couple of months

Thanks a lot. So do you have any suggestions? I don't know much about expedites. Based on my search, I should call them once I get a receipt note or something.

Hi all - posting for the first time as I just received my approval notice from Potomac Service Center, and I know I would have been desperate to hear about potential timelines from other people. Clearly this is just my personal experience, and others may be less (or more) lucky.

For context I have been married to a US Citizen since 2015 and am applying from United Kingdom.

My dates below:

I130 Filing date: 4th September 2021
Receipt Notice: 4th September 2021

Active Review:13th January 2022

USCIS Approval: 25th June 2022

So ~9.5 months from filing to approval vs. the USCIS estimated timeline of 12 months for Potomac SC.

I will update once I have dates for NVC / interview / Visa granted

All - update to include NVC process so far:

I130 Filing date: 4th September 2021
Receipt Notice: 4th September 2021

Active Review:13th January 2022

USCIS Approval: 25th June 2022

USCIS Submission to NVC: 27th June 2022

NVC Notification of Case Creation: 1st July 2022

NVC Fees Paid: 5th July 2022

Currently awaiting NVC to give access to fill in IV visa application and affidavit of support.

I’m assuming that time from approval to interview date will vary based on which country you are applying from (as each consulate will have its own waiting times).

Thanks for the updates. Since I got approved a few days after you, your updates really help me. So after July 1st there were the weekend and holidays and no email from NVC yet for us. Hope I receive it soon.

Based on what I researched, I thought the difference comes after the DQ. So for the nvc, I guess there shouldn't be any difference. Is there?

The first "We are actively reviewing your application" was in February.
The second notification that they are actively reviewing my application came in today, which usually happens a day before the decision is made.

Interesting - I've not heard of people being notified twice, maybe I misunderstood something. I thought, most of the time the case moves to AR once, and then its a guessing game.

Did you get this second notification by email, checking the USCIS online case tracker, or something else?

I hope it does go through for you!

It's quite common actually!

Have a look at this thread for example.

I just checked and saw that the AR's date updated from February 22nd 2022 to July 7th 2022. No notifications by email, just checked the USCIS case status website.
I'll update you and the rest of this forum tomorrow, if a decision does get made.

Yes, you’re right. Usually the second AR resets the days you’ve waited in the case tracker app and you should get approved the same day or the day after.
