The disconnect is so jarring. Bending over backwards to excuse the actions of insurrectionists who committed the worst attack on our capital since 1812 is peak disconnect.

Nobody's arguing about abandoning due process, although some here have argued they were nothing more than tourists and should suffer no consequences. It's adorable.

Since 1812?  I guess the Puerto Rican nationalist shooting in 1954 was just a small thing.  Then of course there was the Bernie supporter that tried to assassinate a bunch of lawmakers in 2017.  I suppose that was nothing as well.

We're just gonna give the guy with zip tie cuffs a pass, or the people using flags as spears? They came with stun guns, pepper spray, and baseball bats. One of them planted pipe bombs.

 

If someone invaded your home with a stun gun, pepper spray, a baseball bat, and zip tie cuffs, I seriously doubt you'd be later telling the police "but they weren't armed."

 

Literally by definition they were armed.

 

You know, condemning an insurrection on our nation's capital and acknowledging that these people were insurrectionists doesn't make you a liberal or a Democrat. Calling a spade a spade doesn't mean you've compromised any of your values. In fact just the opposite. While you can sympathize with these peoples' frustrations and anger about the outcome of the election, you can also condemn their actions. There's no need to be one dimensional on the issue.

Such claims are untrue, and the attempt to justify or defend individuals that wanted to take over the government and kill officials including the VP based upon their own entitled psychosis is not something I personally care to entertain. I said what I said and I maintain that they are very lucky they are merely sitting in a jail cell. They made a life choice and will have to live with the consequences.
