Has anybody had their fiance fly over to the US once the K-1 was issued with an infant baby?

Any experiences you would like to share or tips? I can't imagine doing the trip with a baby and no other help.

The route would be Cebu City to LAX or SFO.

Thanks

infants cry when the plane ascends as the ears pop so it does help to cover the ears on takeoff

and most airlines have a baby sleeper if you can chose the seat where the emergency door is as they hand it on the wall in front of the seat

Children can not be in emergency exit rows.

The parent and infant can request a front row with a wall where they have extra room and can have a baby sleeper on the wall.

With a layover somewhere.  Avoid any airport in China.  Incheon is a great airport to change planes.

PAL was supposed to begin direct to LAX but not sure if its running due to the pandemic.

Yes, also, ask your pediatrician about something to help the baby sleep.  Ours gives a baby dose of Benedryl, which also will help with ears a bit, if they are stuffy.

We have done the bulkhead seat with baby sleeper twice.  It is best for an infant and they do have a weight limit.  Most of the airlines are charging for that now, but it is worth it.  Some will let you reserve the sleeper, others say "if available".  You may not be able to request it during online booking and even if you can, follow up with a phone call to make sure.

Yes, we flew MNL/INC/LAX on Asiana in 2017 when my youngest was one, and had the child sleeper INC/LAX.  On that route, there was a long layover in Inchon so I booked a room at the Transit Hotel in the airport.  They book in 6 hour blocks.  A bit expensive but worth it for us.

Agree, avoid the cheap tickets via China airports.  So many horror stories about transiting there!

Next time we go to the U.S. I will try the Manila / Los Angeles non-stop.  That might be OK for a mom and baby, but in this case, she would have to get to Manila.

Friday, I flew Eva Air CEB-TPE-LAX just over 20 hours. Better airline than PAL and NO MNL. $700 1way on Fridays.

The baby has a US passport, right.

If you can do SFO it would be better though. Getting off the plane in LAX was much slower than 6 months ago in SFO.

Tip from a mom - regardless of which airline you choose, let them travel on business class. It's less stressful for the mom, and therefore less stressful for the baby.

That's one reason I carry my noise cancelling headphones when flying, them crying kids drive me crazy after a while.

No baby sleeper allowed at take off and landing only during cruising time. They also take it off if turbulent flight. Best to have baby in flight approved car seat and give the baby pacifier or milk to drink during ascent so ears pop.

Not CEB-LAX, only MBL-LAX. It is a long haul but it's only slightly longer than HKG-LAX or TPE-LAX and it's only one flight which is very nice. Board, fly, land, done.

I been flying in CEB for sometime and it certainly has not.   I've been waiting and was excited to hear the announcement to begin service probably in late 2019 but then the pandemic hit.

The wife and I did CEB-LAX about 5 years ago and I thought it was great. 14 hours instead of 20+. When my wife renewed her B-2 the end of Feb 2020 I booked us r/t CEB-LAX in May but then the world went to hell in a handbasket.

i do know not allowed in take off

but we sat in the emergency exit seat and they placed the baby crib on the wall in front of us after in-flight
