Hi! I hope this is the right place. I've been chatting for a few months with a girl online from the Philippines. We video chat for hours. We would like to find a way to meet up. Ideally for her to come and see me. Is that in any way possible? Even if she got an au pair job in my hometown?

I am in the United States

I guess is there anyway that we can see each other at this point?

Thank You

On a side note. I can't believe places are still shut down. Is everyone rolling over and dying because of the sniffles?

The Government has many people in the Philippine this is the second coming of the black plague.  You want to talk about going overboard.

Bureau of Immigration in Philippines said today on Facebook they are hoping to open tourism up by the 3rd quarter of this year, So they are shoting for October 2021 which probably means some time in the summer of 2022.

Get her passport and grab a plane ticket and meet her somewhere.  There are some places she can go and you meet her there.  Find out which countries are opened up for both of you and meet her.

We had a guy meet and marry his gurl in Costa Rica last month

I gotta wait over a see to see my honey?! Say it isn't so! I'm not above shady practices like greasing palms or marrying in a third country lol

I actually just saw that right after I posted this. I'll get on that. Thank you!

a single Filipina getting a visa to visit  USA is pretty much impossible. To get a work visa she will have to be able to do work that most Americans can not. you could meet her in another country. However there is probably restrictions in other countries too. Your best bet will be to wait this out and go to the Philippines when  they allow it. As the saying goes it is more fun in the Philippines

I don't think this will ever be over. I mean we have a vaccine now and there are still people calling for masks and social distancing after getting it.

Thanks, I agree with you that is what I should do. I can't wait though. I'm gonna get this done one way or another.

I agree with you that it's highly unlikely for a single Filipina to get a US tourist visa if she doesn't show strong ties to home, such as a steady job or property.

However, a single Filipina with an established career, previous travel and visas to other countries and savings? Oh yes. They used to get US visas all the time,  before the pandemic. But the Embassy hasn't been doing any tourist visa interviews from March 2020 to present.

Best for OP to wait it out or plan to meet in a third country that also accepts both US and PH citizens.

Really the neutral third country approach is about the ONLY option I see for an in person meeting any time in the immediate future.  Even that is becoming more difficult, not less difficult, as the Philippines, US and many other countries are ratcheting up their travel restrictions.   Meeting in third countries can still be done but not easily.  Costa Rica was really nice and welcoming to us.  As was Brazil.  Mexico OTOH was outright hostile.  Don't try meeting there.   Colombia or Peru would probably be hospitable countries as well.
