Waited more than 2 years. Had interview yesterday and ask normal spouse related questions. All given correctly. CO told your case is smooth and don't need further documentation but given 221g which say case is administered processing and online CEAC say Refused. Ask to let them keep Passport or mail them back when asked. But we handed them Passport. What do I take from all this.😞

Administrative Processing......normal and sometimes can take longer for Pakistan cases.  I think there is light at the end of the tunnel.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

This is fairly normal.  I believe they use the term "refused" in the online system even if the case is in AP.

Normal especially for Pakistan because of the difficulty in doing background checks.  AP could be weeks, months, even longer.  Patience, hopefully the visa will be issued sooner rather than later.  It's always a good sign when they keep the passport and did not check any other boxes except AP.  Good luck!

I read somewhere around the forum that CEAC status will say "refused" (even if they approved your visa at the interview) until the visa is issued.

Refused is now the terminology for Administrative Processing. Its normal no worries it will change from

Refused-Ready-Issued

Refused-Administrative Processing-Issued

These are the words that you will definitely see while your visa is being issued.

You are not your relative.  Pointless to compare as your circumstances are not identical.

Not much you can do right now but to wait out the AP.

You're preaching to the choir, brother.  Everyday has been a struggle against loneliness and anxiety for my spouse and I.  Daily video calling has become our lifeline.  Hang in there.
