Vaccination to Be a ‘Necessity’ for Overseas Travel, Qantas Says (msn.com)

Saw this a little while ago. Not surprised I guess. I know a lot of people I talk to say they don't want to be the first ones to be getting a new vaccination. Those of us who want to travel may have to....

We'll see what develops.

I wonder how long before you can purchase verification of getting the vaccine through the black market?

I was thinking more in line for the USA Citizens to travel like to Philippines.

Do you remember back in the day and really not too long ago how easy it was for Philippines Citizens to furnish false information in order to get a passport?

Federal workers are in line to get it relatively quickly too.

The vaccine is not experimental.  Coronavirus vaccines have been worked on since 2003 and then stalled out around 2015 or 2016 when the funding ran dry as certain people thought it would never become an issue.  In March of this year, they have just started where they left off previously and made slight modifications to the current coronavirus.  If this previous 12-13 years of research had not been done, there would have been no vaccine for many years.  The vaccine that is coming out now is safe.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

PRESS RELEASE
PH Immigration backs use of COVID-19 passport
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) welcomed proposals to introduce a COVID-19 passport for international travelers, saying it will speed up immigration processing at the airports and facilitate the revival of tourism and travel industry in the country.
In a statement, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente expressed the Bureau’s support for initiatives to create a global COVID-19 passport that, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT), would usher in the entry of more tourists as it would streamline entry procedures.
Morente said current procedures requiring arriving international travelers to be tested at the airport could pose problems to the BI in the near future as the country reopens its borders to more foreigners, especially tourists.
“The anticipated influx of more international travelers could result in longer queues and overcrowding in our immigration counters as all of these passengers should be tested at the airport before they are allowed to enter the country,” the BI chief said.
He observed that with the use of a COVID-19 passport support evidencing that a traveller was vaccinated and is free of the virus, the conduct of immigration formalities for arriving passengers would be faster and easier and people congestion at the airports would be lessened, if not avoided.
Morente also echoed the statement of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat that the COVID-19 passport would facilitate international travel with stringent health and safety measures in place as it will assure countries that visting tourists are vaccinated and COVID-free.
Earlier, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) disclosed it plans to launch a so-called IATA travel pass, which was described as a global and standardized solution to validate and authenticate country regulations on COVID-19 passenger travel requirements.
The IATA explained that the project aims to create a digital system that will enable passengers to verify that their test or vaccination meets existing COVID-19 travel regulations.
“The importance of this proposed COVID-19 passport cannot be underestimated when our country fully reopens its borders to all international travelers,” Morente said.
He added that he foresees travelers to again begin arriving in the country in droves by the second half of next year when the COVID-19 vaccine is seen to be available in the country.
"We are hopeful that trust and confidence in international travel will be, little by little, renewed," he stated.

Well if everyone that feels safer and that they will not get it if they get vaccinated, why should they worry about those that do not take the vaccine? How long will it be before you can pay off doctors to say that they gave you the vaccine in order to get this proposed "vaccine passport"?

In reality this is just a pipe dream, and looks good on paper.

You know how the Philippines is if you have something that says "Official Document" and has a signature they are pretty good with that, it make them happy and comfortable to see that.

Have you ever received money in Philippines from Western Union, I have had places who want my signature 3 times, why I don't know.

When checking into hotels or getting western union, they always want ID. I show them my US Passport card and they will usually take that in place of my actual passport.

My relative moved to PI a few years ago, he tried to get the PWD discount, he had to basically make a fake US Driver license, put his picture on it and put the wording he needed to avail the use of handicap seating and parking.

For the Philippines you just need to sprinklers words like "Official Document", etc on the paper work an it seems to do the trick.

This is about something that is being considered globally not just in Philippines. They are just saying they are on board with it.
