Hi, I'm curious to know what does initial review mean for my case status? I called USCIS and spoke to a tier 2 officer to find out why they transferred my k1 petition to the Vermont Service Center when originally the California Service Center was handling it. The officer said it was transferred for the efficiency of the case and due to high backlogs at other offices, but it doesn't make sense why they transferred it to an office that is 17.5 to 23 months average processing time and he said that doesn't matter because my case is already in initial review so he advised me to wait for a decision on my case within 90 days of the transfer date and if for any reason I don't hear from them within 90 days that is the time to call them to file an inquiry. Is the information that the officer gave me true and correct?  I don't trust USCIS because they have given me so much misinformation in the past 2 years with my previous petition for my ex fiance when they transferred my last petition to Vermont as well. I submitted all the required documents and then some so I think I will be ok. I'm just praying that it doesn't take them 90 days to make a decision and that the information given was true and correct. Also, can anyone tell me if you have a past criminal record, but no convictions, do they always transfer it to Vermont service center, because the officer told me that isn't why it was transferred, rather it's to speed up the process due to high workload issues at some offices, and that the transfer will not delay my case in any way. I'm not confident in USCIS bcs of all the misinformation I've been given.

Unless there's evidence to the contrary, take what you were told at face value.

It's a boon to have been told an actual time frame.

Avoid worrying about straw dogs.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Unless there's evidence to the contrary, take what you were told at face value. If you find the information is incorrect then follow that line of reasoning. If you are unsure than follow the information presented. Don't make up something in your mind that isn't there.

It's a boon to have been told an actual time frame. It's an advantage to have been told a time period as not to have been told.

Avoid worrying about straw dogs. Don't be concerned with something that is not real or you have not gotten to that point in your process. In other words, wait for it to happen before you think what will happen.

I wonder if Google Translate will soon add Texan...

I am not even kidding, they added turkey.. maybe because of thanksgiving.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Turkey is actually a country...

Hhahhahah I know, Turkey, the former Ottoman empire.

I am saying that I used Google translate this morning (the phone version) and it has an actual "turkey (animal)" translation. Try it.

I have a past record but no convictions. I submitted all my documents to prove it too. But the officer assured me that my case wasn't transferred bcs of my past criminal history. However, as I said earlier in my original post I don't trust USCIS bcs they gave me way too much wrong information on my last petition. However, my last petition was transferred after 6 months at california to Vermont, and it never once said initial review like my new petition, so I'm praying that is a good thing and that this time around my petition will be faster to be approved.
