Hi everyone,

So I've applied in March and USCIS approved the case on October 14th but we haven't heard from NVC yet (I guess I'll give them 30 days).

My fiance is French and was wondering how is it possible for her to come to the US now for a short visit?

Your help is deeply appreciated

You won't hear from nvc until the file ships to Paris.   Likely won't happen until sometime in 2021

Quarantine for 14 days in a non banned country before arriving

She will need to quarantine elsewhere for 14 days before arrival - risky as any country can change the list of who can and can’t enter at any time. Mexico is currently an option but everything is subject to change.

Or the two of you meet in a third country that you can both travel to.

Or you can try your luck for a laissez-passer at the French consulate here. Quite a few hurdles to overcome to be approved so a visit in a third country would almost certainly be easier.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

I assume your fiance qualifies for ESTA?  UK and Schengen EU citizens have been using Mexico, Serbia, and Turkey to wait the 14 days before travelling to the US.

I am a US citizen who applied for the Laissez-passer and was approved..! You just send all your documents to the email and in about a week we got the pass for me to come in France. I've been here for 3 weeks now.

Was thinking the same thing 14 days in a non banned country, but what if they ban that country during the visit? Lol

But I've never been to france and they ask a previous visit to france upon applying to the Visa? Also is it necessary to book the flight ticket or I just show them a plan or something?

Hello!

As far as we know, only us citizens or permanent residents will have the right to travel to the US at the moment. Other than that anyone else is still being restricted from entering the country due to airline procedures to avoid crowding and the spread of the Covid-19.

Best of luck!

That is not correct.  Any foreign national with a valid US visa or entry document may travel to the US, provided that they have not been physically present in a banned country within 14 days prior to seeking entry to the US.  As others have already mentioned in this thread, the workaround for residents of banned countries is to quarantine for 14 days in a non-banned country prior to their US trip.  Many VJ members from Europe reported successfully visiting by following that plan.

I think they do but I have been to france with my partner before... They also ask for proof that you have been together 6 months before covid (January) .... I did buy my tickets but I'm pretty sure they wouldnt know if you bought the ticket and returned it within 24hrs which most airlines give you and just show proof of the ticket in the email... Keep in mind though that the pass gives you two weeks to enter from the date you showed on the airline ticket as well as it has the destination that you are arriving in..

Now I’m trying to understand why my 3 New Zealander friends were not able to fly to the US...
