Vladimir Putin is planning to step down next year as speculation swirls in Russia that the longtime president may have Parkinson’s disease, a report said Thursday.

Moscow political scientist Valery Solovei told The Sun that the Russian strongman’s 37-year-old girlfriend, Alina Kabaeva, and his two daughters are pushing him to leave office.

“There is a family, it has a great influence on him. He intends to make public his handover plans in January,” Solovei told the news outlet.

Solovei also suggested Putin may be suffering from Parkinson’s as the president has been seen recently exhibiting symptoms of the disease.

Is this a prelude to Joe stepping down (if he wins) for Kamala considering his very apparent signs of early stage dementia?

Russian lawmakers consider bill that would give Putin lifelong immunity from prosecution

Kremlin already came out saying that this isn't true.

Glad to see Putin go if this is true, but I wouldn't wish Parkinson's on anyone.

I don't follow Russian politics that much anymore, but unless things have changed, Putin's replacement is necessarily going to make anyone happier.

The wife follows it a little and she was surprised when I mentioned this to her although I doubt the Russian news channels she follows would ever mention it.  Regardless of what happens, Putin will have his hand-picked successor to take over much like he did when he had Medvedev step in so he, Putin, could run again.  This time he simply had the constitution changed.

Blowout is an interesting book that documents the intersection of Putin and his posse, western oil interests and how the thing basically is an organized crime gig posing as a government.
