hello everyone, :)

Since I had to prepare/ order police certificates from four different countries for my husband, I decided to get one country off the checklist soon. My husband got his police clearance certificate from Dubai (UAE).  He got the certificate within 1-2 days electronically through his personal email. The police certificate clearly states that since this is an electronic version, it will not have a stamp, it was issued for the purpose of immigrating to the US and that the certificate is valid only for 3 months.  My husband is not planning to go back to UAE to visit or reside. My I-130 is not even approved yet.

Will NVC accept this certificate when I come to the NVC stage? I ask because it says only 3 months on the certificate.

Thanks again, all. Hope all are doing well and staying safe.

Cheers.

Hello,

From your timeline, you received your NOA1 in August, 2020?   If so, it is too early to start collecting PCC's.  It will take 5-7 months for your petition to get approved, perhaps even longer.  And then a couple weeks for NVC to create a case file.

The Dubai PCC will be expired by the time you get to the NVC stage.  The other PCC's you are getting now will probably expire by the time your husband gets interviewed.  Wait until you get your NOA2 before collecting PCC's.

Police certificates from a country where you no longer live never expire, assuming you have not returned to live there or been arrested there (even as a visitor) since you left.

I used a police certificate from Germany that was 12 years old because I had not returned there to live since the certificate was issued. NVC website confirms that certificates from countries where you no longer live never expire.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Morocco always says 90 days expiration but ours was well over that as , in 2015 the original went to NVC , and NVC took many many months to process our case

they did not ask for new one and that was from his home country

Should always verify with the official site

Please note that the police clearance certificates issued in the UAE is only valid for three months.  At the time of the visa interview at the U. S. Embassy, please bring a valid UAE police clearance certificate in order to avoid any delays in the processing of your case.

YMMV

That is only applicable if the interview is in the UAE and the applicant is living there.  In this case, the Applicant is no longer living in the UAE and will not be interviewing there.  If you are reading from the UAE Embassy website, you are reading the wrong official source.  This interview is in Mumbai, not Abu Dhabi.

Easy to do without clarification of context.

Thank you everyone for your kind, thoughtful and wise advice. :) :)

So I decided to keep the UAE police certificate and decided to not go ahead and order the other police certificates (3 other remaining countries India, Germany and Oman) as of yet.  (I was thinking some countries are going into a second complete/partial  lockdown due to a second wave and I wanted it out of the way). --like one less thing to worry about.

But all of your advice makes great sense.. different perspectives and different point of view.

Thank you, May you all have speedy and successful interviews, approvals and DQ's.
