   I don't think world peace is their motive. Maybe they just don't want to be jerks, alienate customers and generate negative publicity. Just like the Washington football team that doesn't have a name.

FSU and up in my area CMU (Chippewas) have not caved because those tribes see those mascot names as a positive for their own marketing, and the schools consult with the tribes regularly.
