Am not sure how accurate it is but am assuming it’s now taking longer than expected times as everyone says which is devastating i don’t know how am gonna travel or do plans after my extension expires.

for the field office am assuming it’s gonna be the same like the I-751 but am not sure how they gonna let us know

Hi everyone, just figured I'd introduce myself here! I'm the USC and my husband is from the UK.  He came here on a K1 visa back in 2017 and he just received his 10 year GC a couple weeks ago.  We're submitting his N-400 via online filing today, can't wait to get the process started and then do a whole lot of waiting!

Personally, I really don't know if there is a specific timeline nowadays because of the Covid. I'm guessing probably it all depends. Today, I just received a notification mail from USCIS, letting me know that they will schedule my biometrics for my N-400 application soon. I filed September 8, 2020 and got the mail today, September 17, 2020. I don't know if that helps. Good luck!

I received a "case number" almost immediately after filing N-400 online, starting with IOE. It stands for the E-filing, I believe. First few days it said "estimated lead time: 4 days" and after 4 days, it changed to "we are taking longer than expected to blabla" 

 

Less than one week after filing I received NOA1 and the petition is at the National Benefit Center. 

 

Hopefully they will merge my I-751 and N-400 interview. That's all I'm hoping for 🙂

Hi guys! I'm just sharing that i'm so happy today. The uscis has deposited my cashier's check to their account yesterday and it cleared today. So i know they have looked at my mailed n400 package already. I sent it sept 4 and it arrived sept 5. But they received it sept 8 after the weekend and holiday. So 10 days/8 business days. 

 

So i'm hoping that they will send me an sms/text that they received my n400 application soon because i sent in a g1145 and then hopefully i receive my noa1 also in my mail so i can receive my case number.

Update! I got a text message from the uscis (i guess due to the g1145 form i mailed in) and they have accepted my case and that they are currently processing my application. I got my case number too. When I checked my case status it said that they sent me my noa 1 on sept 16. So i guess it should arrive in my actual mailbox shortly.

 

I was wondering why mine was IOE when i filled mine by mail and sent it to chicago. I guess I could be for Illinois. But not sure on the OE part. 

 

My last biometrics was dec 2018. Do you think they will reuse my old biometrics or do you guys think they'll take new ones again for me?

I'm wondering about the biometrics too...I had mine done in October, 2019 for ROC. With Covid-19, I wonder if they'd be more likely to use old fingerprints? I don't care about the fee, I mainly just don't want to go through the process again. Any thoughts?

Quick question for my fellow online filers: immediately after submitting the application we were emailed a payment receipt with a case number.  This isn't the NOA, correct? And will the NOA be emailed or sent in the mail? 

 

I'm also wondering about biometrics.  My husband had his biometrics taken in October of last year for ROC.  I know a lot of ROC cases got their biometrics waived in light of COVID but I'm not sure if it will be the same for N-400.

You’re NOA will be mailed to you via USPS. My husband received his within a week of filing online. 
During the ROC process for him, I was told that biometrics are only valid for a year. Not sure if that’s the case these days.

Thanks so much LinJoe! I did find something similar to this when i did a little digging on the internet after i posted here. But yeah this will be helpful for everyone over here.

 

In my previous cases for my K1 Visa (i got a WAC) because it was processed in the California process center and for my AOS, AP and EAD they were all MSC which made sense since I mailed them to Missouri. So they always followed the normal  receipt patterns.

 

My only question right now and why I'm weirded out is that I filled an actual hard copy paper mail and sent it to the Chicago lockbox. So I didn't file it online or ELIS.. but I still got a IOE. When I got a text too they said that the National Benefits Center is the one processing it. So should be NBC or MSC following the usual Case Number Patterns. I got an IOE09096 (so the IOE is weird. And the first 2 digits are 09 - which couldn't be the year but makes sense as a month since September is 09. And 096 might be my application number in the queue. 

 

Anyway just sharing why I got weirded out by my receipt number. Hahaha. Though I'm happy that i received the text message already for it so that I can possibly call USCIS to try to expedite it.

Hi hawksquill! Yeah i can't make sense of the 9 and not having a 09 (at least 09 would mean september) or yeah a 19 for the uscis year. Yeah they probably just really changed their style/procudure and didn't have any media publish their new procedure and they also did not publish anything on their website just yet. But yeah there's not much literature on the internet about it.
