Nationwide riot megathread

This is a megathread pulling together riots happening across the US. We've seen the Seattle and Portland ones getting the most attention, even Atlanta, DC, NYC, LA, SF/BA, St. Louis, now Chicago enters the mix. Trump has repeatedly threatened to send Feds, and in some cases they've had to intervene when local police won't to protect federal property. So I figure this is a good place to discuss and detail the riots happening around, whether in the name of BLM, Antifa, or any other reason.

 

Here's Chicago yesterday:

There are no riots in LA now. I don't know where you read that. There was looting at the end of May in Santa Monica and in a couple areas (Melrose, the Grove) of LA but since then all the protests have been pretty peaceful.

While Chicago is seeing rioting and looting, more rioting and clashes with police happening in Portland:

 

 

 

 

 

Portland is actually looking a lot more like guerrilla warfare. 

 

And back on Chicago.. rioting and looting there is being marketed by a Chicago BLM leader as, well, from the horse's mouth:

The looting and rioting are being done by people we'd expect to do it if police stand down, but the ordering of them to stand down and allow this to spread to begin with was done by people trying to politically extort/shake down the country and suggest that by getting rid of Trump they'll allow things to return to normal. You see the encouragement of it in the media, by political groups wanting things to return to their little controlled corrupt "normal" they likewise benefit from to the detriment of everyone else. Absolutely cannot validate this sort of moronic lunacy.

"Happening" implies that there are riots currently ongoing, not ones that have already occurred (i.e. it is the present continuous tense). Of course there could be some in the future, none of us have a crystal ball. But I wanted to make clear to people who may not be paying attention that there's nothing of the sort happening here now, nor has there been for almost two and a half months. Minor point but an important one I think. Call it boosterism.

Being such a truly middle of the road guy, I can usually understand how others arrive a certain viewpoints, regardless if I agree. 

But defunding the po po is insane. No logic can justify this insanity.  Its going to bite them in the cabose

But you pointed out Los Angeles specifically, and they aren't happening. They happened. They might happen again. But happening? No.

I pointed out 8 other cities including a region with 2 other major cities in it that region which rioted (only 2 or 3 mentioned have riots occurring in the past few days), if I intended the thread to solely focus on any one city and specifically right now it would've been in the thread title and OP and wouldn't have deviated to a non-exhaustive example list of cities since Floyd that have dealt with this. Pretty easy to understand which is why no one else had the same problem. The ongoing nationwide issue isn't ceased just because one city has stopped for now. 

 

tl;dr->The world doesn't revolve around LA. 😉
