cant schedule your medical without the appointment letter of embassy.

for all what i know of

Correct. The country-specific instructions (and the information from the approved doctor in Berlin) specify that you need proof of your interview date to schedule your medical.

This happened to me just recently in Frankfurt. I got an “interview cancelled” email, then a “case expedited” email, and then an appointment for Aug. 18th for a CR-1 interview. I did not actually request an expedite (we actually had to delay the interview because we can’t move to the US until March), so I guess this means Frankfurt is starting to do IR-1/CR-1 interviews.

Visa expiration date will be 6 months after panel physician exam: "Travel clearance is valid for 6 months from the time the evaluation is complete." https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/tuberculosis-panel-technical-instructions.html

How long was it between when you recieved the "cancelled" email and them scheduling your appointment?

“Cancelled” on 7/31, “expedited” on 8/3, and appointment email on 8/6 for an appointment on 8/18. I asked them to push back to November so the visa aligns with our timeline and haven’t heard anything since.

I also received “cancelled” on 7/31 & “expedited” on 8/3. But I haven’t heard anything since! 😅

I’m hoping they didn’t forget to assign me an appointment haha

Do they just write to you and tell you the interview date, or do you get to pick the date?

(We are applying through Frankfurt as well, and wanting an interview as soon as possible, but also wanting to be able to plan one week of holiday in Sept without that being the week the interview is scheduled).

They just told us the date, but you can email them and ask to change it if needed

The email included this link: https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/iv-application-instructions/ and this text:

Please submit the following missing items on your visa interview day:

  • Visa delivery registration. Prior to the interview, you must provide an address where you want your visa package delivered after issuance. Detailed information can be found here: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/de/de-niv-passporttrack.asp. After logging into your profile, please click on “New Application/Schedule Appointment”, select “Immigrant Visa” and then “Immigrant Visa Delivery Registration”. Make sure to print out the confirmation page at the end of the process and bring it with you to the interview.
  • Photo. One color photograph for each applicant, regardless of age, is required (less than 6 months old, without glasses). Please write the applicant’s name on the back of the photograph. Further guidance is available on our website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html
  • Original version of all civil documents uploaded in CEAC
  • Passport

I don’t see anything public charge related
