This is probably a DUMB question so I apologize. 

 

My fiance's sister and brother are both US citizens. 

 

Does current family in the US have any negative effect on K1 visas?

Generally, no.

 

The only time I have seen relatives be an issue is if the relationship was brought up through them. Like one case was with a US-based aunt that introduced the 2 people, in which it seemed to the CO that the relationship existed just as a means to bring the aunt's family members to the US more quickly.

But this is uncommon, and was a result of not being able to demonstrate a bona fide relationship. If you have a bona fide relationship, even meeting via a relative is not an issue.

(Edit: In in your case, there would be no perceivable immigration benefit...the USC siblings can petition for the same people as her anyway).

Gotcha. That makes sense. Thankfully, no we did not meet through his US family. His family has been trying to petition for him to come here though on family based visas, but that was prior to me and separate from the K1.

 

He also was brought here on a K2 visa as a minor back in 2005-2006 with his mother on the K1. From my understanding, that marriage dissolved and he and his mother moved back to Russia.

 

All a bit confusing but I don't think it would impact the case?

I think if you have a legitimate relationship, you'll be fine. I don't think they're going to really look at or care about those items in terms of the current relationship.

Find a hobby and try not to think about your case every day. I mean..don't ignore it if it's beyond normal times, but it's only stress to think about it on a daily/weekly basis.

Just keep a plan on staying connected.  Even when we were dating we had a pretty short window when we could chat.  A 15 hour time difference didn't help.

 

But the last 75 days before I flew out to get married went by really fast.

Stay busy.......video chats when possible.  We chatted 2 times a day.....every day...that helped a lot....

The 10-11 hours from Pacific time to Moscow time (which is most of European Russia) doesn't work out too badly if you're both morning people, in our experience; that gives you a not completely unreasonable window to talk both in the morning and in the evening.

 

It was a bit trickier when I was visiting family in Florida; we could usually only talk once a day.

 

We didn't start almost-daily video chats until we'd been together for over a year (and had three one-week visits) and had an I-129F in process, but they were definitely helpful for dealing with the stress of waiting on the K-1 process

Keep busy, socialise with friends too (i did until the pandemic lockdowns). Also, I spoke with my husband daily (sometimes he was in the US or Japan, and me mainly the UK or some where in Europe, we both travelled for work) and there hasn't been a day we haven't spoke since May 2016. It took us almost two years to move (I'm on a spouse visa - not K1). I kept busy, I spent lots of time with family, friends and my dog (who lives in the UK with my parents currently - miss him). I moved in April 2020 during the pandemic and it's the best decision I made due to lockdowns and my sanity back then. I also joined the gym too to fill some nights.

Also, keep away from bad sources of news etc.... it's the presidential election this year and lots of mis-information flying around! Don't give yourself unnecessary anxiety.
