Anyone tried to extend the I-129F petition because of embassies closed and no visa processing in their country? Ours due on July, 31. What actions should be done then?

I assume I need to write the email to Embassy providing all the information about petitioner and beneficiary with all the numbers. Please advise if you had any experience.

Thank you!

You shouldn't have a concern for the expiration date on your NOA2. Your current NOA2 is valid for four months but can be extended by the discretion of the embassy in four month increments to a one-year total. With the current situation, I see no problem with you being able to proceed to receiving a visa in the NOA2 period of one year. Nothing must be done by you for the extension. When your embassy opens again, they will address this.

And what happens after a year? If there is truly a 'second wave' and the Embassies are already dealing with backlog and work visas reopening after the expiration of the Presidental Proclamation at the end of the year, I can easily see us April NOA2 at NVC folks waiting at least until after April 2021.

I'm worried about this too. @Greenbaum would you know if the one-year extension (if ever) is counted from the date of NOA2 approval or NOA2 expiry?

Under normal circumstances you would have to start over. Since we are starting to see some embassies open and processing the CR-1 visas backlog I can only imagine they will get caught up and begin with K-1's. No one with any certainty can answer that question. We are all in the dark as to what will and will not happened.

The one year is from the NOA2 approval.

Has anyone’s embassies in this group actually started reopening? My case has been at the NVC since April 6th and we’re really losing hope in this process

Mine too and I feel you but sadly I don't think they reopen any time soon since here in my country government is not reporting covid19 cases accurately and they're very sceptical

Yes was about asking you, but noticed your case moved from NVC to embassy. Please keep us in the loop... Maybe other embassies will follow soon

Was it because the embassy in Taiwan is open and doing normal visa interviews? Or is it because the asked for an emergency or expedited case request? There is a BIG BIG difference.

They are doing normal interviews now. Many slots are opened for K1 interview in August.

Omg really??? That’s great news!! Hopefully the other embassies that are open will start to process K1s. As far as I can tell, most are only processing student visas only 😒
