1-944 education equivalency delay due to COVID

Last week I submitted my university transcripts from Scotland to ECE for the education equivalency part of form I-944. This morning I got an email from them stating due to Wisconsin’s safer at home order all operations are suspended. I am now worrying I won’t have the documents ready to send away by April 7th which is my final day. If I don’t get them is it worth me sending the package away with the email attached and wait for an RFE? What’s the best course of action here?

We're in the same boat, only we didn't even get my husbands education in to be equivocated. We're just going to included scanned copies of his GCSE's and A levels. Then in the additional info tell them that due to the shelter in place rules because of coronavirus we cant get them in to be equivocated.  Hopefully they can understand that. We'll get his stuff equivocated for the interview.

Yeah I think that’s what’s gonna have to happen. It’s an absolute nightmare.
have you had any luck with credit score proof or letters saying you don’t have?

We're in the process of assembling everything and are stuck on that step as well. We applied for his SSN the first week he came, but we still haven't gotten it and its almost 6 weeks later. If it doesn't come today or tomorrow we're just going to send it off because we are afraid if things get worse it would be hard to get it to USCIS. If it doesn't come we'll provide the letter we got from SSA when we applied and then a explanation that we haven't received the card yet.

You don't need one, but for the new I-944 form you have to show a credit report. If you don't have a credit report it wants proof and an explaination on why you don't have one.

When you run a credit report with no SSN entered you will get back a record of no credit. That's all you need to submit.

Then explain you have no SSN.

I listed and sent copies of everything with a letter stating due to current circumstances surrounding coronavirus a complete transcript of equivalent qualifications will be provided at time of interview...

really hate this part of the I-944. I think the fact that one is an immigrant with no social security number should be explanation enough as to why one does not have a credit report/score.

It's like me explaining why I've never had a CPF (kind of like a SSN in Brazil) on a Brazilian permanent residency application.

My  university has something called a “diploma supplement” which explains the Irish university system and what degrees and grades are equivalent too. If your university has something similar you could submit that too just as some additional evidence 😀

Are you submitting your highschool certificate to be evaluated as well? Or only university transcripts? I'm just curious whether both are necessary or only the higher qualification.

Thanks :)

I have been able to get my transcripts evaluated through an acredited NACES member. International Education Evaluations (IEE) are still operating during the corona pandemic and can get you same day evaluation (expensive, but possible).
