COVID-19 Cancellations

Figured I'd start a thread to keep up with everyone who had interviews or biometric appointments cancelled due to the COVID-19 shutdown.

 

I'm curious how they will reschedule us. If interviews are scheduled 1 month in advance, then April is in theory fully booked. So, if they resume operations sometime in April, will March cancellations be scheduled for May? Just a thought.

It is unlikely they will resume operations on April 1. Just read the headlines everywhere that states are asking all office shutdowns as far as possible. They will keep pushing the April 1 date out ..more likely to resume in late summer. Just my 2 cents.

I would plan on seeing USCIS offices closed until mid summer at the earliest........just my opinion......all we can do is just stay safe, help others, and carry on.....

I do wish that field office workers who would normally interview people are deployed to adjudicate cases ..especially I-751 ones as they are not conducting interviews now.

In my opinion, they should eliminate Removal of Conditions, and just issue 10 year cards......

I was thinking the same and was wondering if there is a statistic anywhere that shows the % denial (or approval) for all i-751 cases over the past x number of years?

I did some analysis a few months ago.......for 1st Quarter Fiscal Year 2019.  Those figures show less than 1% of ROC cases were actually denied.

Approved: 42,301

Denied: 1287

So, total adjudicated : 43,588

1287/43588= 2.95%   initially denied

If you assume that all the denials are appealed and 75% are successful, then that pushes the total number of approved cases to 43,266.

Final approval rate: 99.26%  if my figures are correct.

Yes, and hopefully one less time they can go into our pockets, though I would gladly pay more to skip the step and long wait altogether.

Especially when you consider that a spouse with a 2yr GC can remove conditions with a divorce waiver. Like, really, what is the point of a conditional green card? None (other than making people spend more money, of course).

May be we should together create a kind of petition/letter and send it to the authorities to ask to decrease processing time for 751 form especially now?...As it really brings a lot of discomfort to people living just with a expired green card and this piece of paper about 18 months. Someone can be overseas now and have to travel with a lot of layovers to go back ASAP because of the Coronavirus and some air companies can decline this letter. Plus I think a lot of us plan to apply for unemployment benefits and I also think that we need to show an unexpired green card...Why does it take sooo long. However, I think they still accept new applications? As based on the thread March 2020 fillers, people receive some kind of notifications already after March 18th...

It'll be interesting to see what happens. My wife just filed her ROC and we got the noa1 in the mail yesterday. So, at least we got the extension, but biometrics will probably be delayed for quite a while, so will that delay her process? Who knows. Plus in another year she's eligible for citizenship anyway. How would those that need biometrics get approved? Or what about interviews? Currently we're all stuck in limbo.

I am an August filer and had Biometrics next Tuesday in California. Our state is in mandatory shutdown. My guess is that some cases will just be approved without biometrics or interview.

My interview was cancelled 8 days ago without even being scheduled. No notice from USCIS and no approval.

I only see cases in LA being cancelled.

Each field office might be handling things differently. Some call applicants, others send cancellation notices...

My case simply went to “Ready to Schedule an Interview,” for example.

 

No other communication, though.

 

I’m tempted to just show up on my previous interview day and see is someone inside the office will take pity on me LOL
