I was told by NVC that Case is at Montreal now and they will reschedule everyone whose interviews were cancelled. So I am going to wait to hear back. No point checking so much and going crazy about it in middle of this pandemic situation.

Be mentally prepared for a shutdown for at least 2-3 months.

End of the summer is my guess, which is worth what you are paying for it.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I just wanted to share that I reached out to my doctor that performed our medicals and they said they are good for 6 months and suggested to contact the consulate when the time comes to see if they will make us get them again if they are expired etc.

I know right! There is nothing we could do but wait until situation gets better. I’m pretty sure the embassy is busy but sending email notice to everyone isn’t rocket science lol. Flying to Montreal from across the country is not a joke.

agree. not a joke. Also what a timing! just right before our interview date!

A bunch of people got emails that their interviews were cancelled, but not everyone. However, all US consulates are closed as of today. Montreal specifically closed on the 17th:

"As of March 17, 2020, United States Embassy and all Consulates General in Canada are cancelling routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

For immigrant visas: If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please contact us at Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov. Thank you for your understanding, and please continue to monitor the information for updated guidance in the coming weeks at the Official Website for U.S. Visa Information and Appointments at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/iv/information/contact_us "

I just thought I'd list my worries cause maybe others have answers and can help...

Our family visa interview was scheduled March 23rd and canceled 5 days before when Montreal consulate closed. We waited 13 yrs so far and were so close. Now 10 steps back.

I am worried that the medicals we just spent $1000 on will expire along with our criminal checks that expire in May and we'll have to get that all again.

The NVC booked our appointment last time but now our file is at the consulate. We keep getting emails from them saying they will contact us when they open with rescheduling instructions.

So I am worried the consulate will not be rescheduling appointments and we will have to do it ourselves which worries me because what if other people way behind us get on and get an interview date 1st and we get pushed way back in line again when we were right at the front?

Thank you to anyone reading this and for letting me vent my worries.

1.  You might have to pay for new medical appointments.  That's just the reality of the situation.  You have no control over that, and worrying about it is not helpful to your stressful situation.

2.  The consulate is now in control of the interview date.  NVC is no longer in the picture.

3.  If you are unclear of the reschedule options, email the consulate for instructions.  In my opinion, the consulate will likely reschedule the interviews based on the order in which they were originally scheduled.

Right now, the only thing you can do is wait it out.......good luck.
