I-130 N/A, NONE, OR BLANK?

Hello Im a US citizen living in Thailand with my Thai wife. We will be submitting I-130 and I-130a to uscis Bangkok but the office will be closing their doors next month for last appointments. so I want to make sure my forms are filled out correctly.

In the instructions it points out to fill all questions. but Im confused about when to use N/A or none or leave blank...

example: Alien Registration Number and USCIS account number (if any) I think in my head "none" but would it be N/A, None, or Blank?

The other question would be when filling information about beneficiary's family page 6 it has 5 persons. spouse (me) and children (none). Person 1 easy its me. But person 2-5 she has no children so my question is on person 2/ 29.a. family name... Do I put N/A, None? and if so do I only put in the first line under family name and leave 29.b-32 blank or continue to fill what I put for family name....

last question: interpreter and  if not use then blank or n/a or none.  in only the first line part 71.a interpreter's last name and leave rest blank?

thank you for your help

Don't leave anything blank or USCIS might think you missed that particular question and they will RFE you or simply reject the petition.

N/A is fine, and if they ask for a number you can write 0.

You don’t need to fill out every single thing with N/A. It depends what the question is. You don’t have to put anything in alien registration number if you do not have one, just leave it blank. Other things, use judgement to determine whether or not you feel you need to write “N/A”, “none”, or if you can just leave it blank, no need to overdo it

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

October 11 2020: Arrived in US!

Nonsense.  That advice is from before the forms were PDF.

Here's the real scoop.

If the question is applicable but the answer is none, enter NONE for the first in any line of questions about the same subject.  For example, "All children of beneficiary..." is applicable, even if the answer is NONE.  If it is, enter NONE one time and leave the rest of the 5 children spaces BLANK.  If only 1 child, enter NONE in the first space for child two and so on.

Something is generally only N/A if rendered N/A by a box being checked that would make it obvious.  Usually, the form will make it impossible to enter N/A or ANYTHING in such spaces.  With Java Script activated, good luck typing N/A anywhere.

Common sense really is allowed.

If no A number, SS number etc.  Enter 000000...

Hopefully last question

Preperers parents my parents

My biological father on birth certificate I know nothing about or met and my mom doesn't know either, other than full name and the state he was born.

Under current resedency I can put "unknown"? And birthday "00/00/0000" Then explain in part 9 that I never knew biological father?

And my Mothers current name now that is my step dads last name because it doesn't ask for maiden name?

In I-130a it spicificly asks wife's mother's maiden name

Always follow the instructions for the form you are completing.    OFFICIALLY this is the correct way to complete the I-130

"Answer all questions fully and accurately. If a question does not apply to you (for example, if you have never been married and the question asks, “Provide the name of your current spouse”), type or print “N/A,” unless otherwise directed. If your answer to a question which requires a numeric response is zero or none (for example, “How many children do you have” or “How many times have you departed the United States”), type or print “None,” unless otherwise directed."

Thank you for your official way of answering and also the copy and paste of the official direction on how to officially complete. I have read over and over.

I live in Thailand and renew my permission of stay based on marriage to a Thai wife.  I understand that there is a buacracy headache to fill documents or I'm kicked out here that's why I'm asking for help with people in this forum who can explain better than copy and paste a pdf I have read over and over to help me with my wife to come with me to USA  because it's getting difficult her for me as a foreigner to live in Thailand .

Example where in your copy and paste answer tells me to put biolagacal sperm donor father in as my parent that I don't know anything about.

Other people have been very helpful but you sir no thank you
