Engagement ring insurance

I will be traveling to the Philippines from USA in November and anticipate proposing to my girlfriend.

I am looking for any way to insure her engagement ring from damages, loss and theft, but cannot find anything. Because she will be the one in possession after we get engaged, I am not finding any insurance companies that will provide a policy.

Has anyone ever looked into this and found anything promising?

She should add it onto her own Insurance.

My husband was able to add it to his own policy when we got engaged.

Some credit cards offer protection to your purchases. I know mine would cover what I bought if brought abroad (but not losses due to riots, wars, insurrections, etc.).

In the Philippines? This made me laugh out loud)))

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

You might want to rethink taking an expensive engagement ring there. Especially if she lives in the province. Up to you. You can always get a more expensive one when she gets to the States...

DOUBLE what Boris said!!

Do NOT bring an expensive ring to the Philippines.  Even a modest priced one is can be a few months income if they work in the big city and maybe more like a years income out in the province.    Buy a modest priced one for the "engagement moment", keep the expensive one at home until later.

Even now my wife does not wear her jewelry in public when in the Philippines

I always add jewelry to my homeowners policy .. which won't be of much help for your situation.

Its been 9 years, but I bought my wife a very inexpensive ring. In the Philippines with the promise that once hear and married we would upgrade big time.

You can pick up gold jewelry and rings much cheaper in Philippines vs USA.

My wife got some 18K rings and bracelets last time she went home to Philippines. She said she wears it in public when in the Philippines.
