1.  It's always funny to see the Brits (in the UK forum or any forum) moan about life here in the Colonies.

2.  As far as healthy fast food, Chick-fil-A's grilled chicken sandwiches are pretty good (as food & for health).

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

LOL... I don't know what it is about their chicken NB. Maybe it's handled with love, maybe they have room to breathe, maybe they eat good, and they have different handling standards after slaughter -

Yup, add chicken to the list of "foods that suck in the US compared to the UK," with bread being the very first on that list.   That being said, I am 100% going to try this chicken sandwich

I can attest that my picky dog - offended at the notion of his presence at the veterinary office, and disgusted at the sight of the vet of which he loathes - was finally coaxed to show some affection for them, when she handed him Chick-Fil-A grilled, as a peace offering. :lol:

I'm really of two minds about this chicken sandwich. On the one hand, the idea of eating fast food kind of grosses me out. I *will* eat McDonalds french fries, because the ARE the best, but everything else? Ugh. And there are SO many amazing places to get fried chicken sandwiches up here. (The ones at Grégoire are INSANE.) On the other hand, I feel like I can't resist the hype around this sandwich and will probably get one anyway because... FOMO?

McDonald's burgers are tiny in comparison with everyone else's.

Wendy's fries are better than McDonald's and even Burger King's.

I rarely eat at McDonalds, but sometimes a 2 cheeseburger special is good.

 

I did download their mobile app a while back when I was healing from neck surgery. Wasn't supposed to drive but Mickey ds was close and I would slip out. when wife was at work. Wife would bring no good food in the house. I lost 12 lbs while out of work sitting on my behind. I digress

 

The mobile apps sucks. You cant place your order until near the building, even with a credit card. The mobile app was always slower than just going thru the drive thru.

You guys got to try Shake Shack... it's the only burgers worthy of being eaten by me. McDs has nothing that is even considered food... barely edible.

    Even my kids won't eat at McDonalds. If they are hungry and we are driving somewhere they'll ask to stop at Wendy's or Burger King, but if it's McDonalds we just keep driving.

Shake Shack is real food! That's why it's actually delicious (totally agree). Speaking of chicken sandwiches, theirs is pretty fantastic too.

 

I have a soft spot for McD's french fries, I can't help it. :blush:

Chicken at the Shack is a thing they added just recently for us on the menu... but the burgers are just so tempting every time I go, I just haven't tried it yet.

 

How can you eat those things? They barely register as potato based!

What sucks is there are (I think) only two Shake Shacks up here, and one's in Palo Alto (ugh) and the other is in Larkspur (less ugh of a drive, but ugh). We did the drive to the one in Larkspur back in April but it's a slog. Try the chicken!!!

 

I think the fries thing is simply childhood association with them -- my dad used to take us out on Saturday afternoons for a treat of fries after soccer practice. They are not amazing, just have happy memories, even though those memories involve my sister!

I'll eat breakfast burritos or an Egg McMuffin.  Or their fries.  That's about it. Used to love the Big Mac when I was a kid, but no more.
