Received packet from the embassy looking like it was opened

Hi all!

I've had my packet for a while but now I'm starting to panic a bit since the packet kind of looks like it has been opened.

I received straight from the embassy like this

It looks like they didn't close it correctly after the stamping and they just taped over it.

Am I going to get in trouble for it or is it fine?

Thank you!

Hmmmm this does kind of look like it has been opened. Do you have your trip booked already? It may be worth reaching out to the embassy to ask them to reseal it to avoid any problems at POE

I don't have trips booked yet, thankfully. I guess that's the most sensible thing to do, but what a hassle!

Yeah thats really annoying. If you have time its probably worth doing. No one here can tell you exactly what will happen cause it will be up to the officer when you arrive

Send them a photo of that envelope and get them reseal it for you. If, by any chance, they are not willing to do that, have all the written communication you exchanged with them printed and have it with you on the day you land in the US.

How long ago did you get that envelope?

Keep bugging them, every day, every two hours if needed, to get them redo it for you. Better safe than sorry.

All the best.

Hi!

I got an answer from the embassy and everything looks fine according to them! Wohoo! I'm going to print the email exchange just in case, but I feel like a weight has been lifted!

That will not be a problem. Ive worse and immigration had no problems.  Contact the embassy if you are that nervous.  If it were me i wouldn't be hassled with. There have many here on vj with worse looking and they were fine. Do a search and see.
