I don’t know why everyone is stressing out about the biometrics appointment. At this stage in our immigration journey, it does not change anything and makes no difference.
In fact, if you don’t get an appointment, or even better, your old biometrics can be reused, why wouldn’t that be good news? It saves you the time and hassle to show up to a potentially overcrowded ASC for no good reason.

The timing really varies depending on the service center. I already had mine, but it was stressful, inconvenient and time consuming. That’s not something I usually put in my to do list.

I think you're absolutely right. They already extended 18 months, just following that they need from us

Our receipt date is August 1, and we are at the Potomac Service Center, still no biometrics appt date. I'm not too worried about it after reading a lot online about this being normal. The USCIS website currently lists expected processing time as 14-16.5 months for YSC.

Sure,

I sent out all the documents on August 14 and got NOA1 on 19.

On August 31st, I got a letter about biometrics appointment for September 13th.

Since then, I didn't have any update about the fingerprints like some people do, but just got an update for an interview today. I don't know when the interview will be but I will update once I get it.

That's great to know! Thanks for sharing. Could be a sign of movement for other ATL SRC folks. Best of luck!

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are doing well. Im not sure where I can find advice on this or if any of you know, but can I travel home ( to my home country?) after filing I-751 and have not received an update yet. My green card only expires on January 25 2019, but I have a family emergency back home now that requires me to leave immediately. Does anyone know anything? I filed last week packet was delivered Wednesday and have not got anything back.

Assuming you filed within the 90 day window, all your forms are signed and you sent in the correct fee, you should soon be receiving an 18 month extension letter for your current green card.

You can still leave the country with your current green card, but depending on the circumstances and time when you return, it may be best for you to wait for the letter, which should realistically be arriving within the next 5-7 days. If you have the time, wait. If you don't, you should be okay to travel as long as you return before January 25th.
