My bf and I are meeting for the first time in December. 

We are planning to get married next year and plans to apply for K1 visa.

We are just wondering what would be the fees like on filing for the K1 visa

I saw online that it is around $2,000 are we paying it at once or how?

Hope someone can help and what would be the process like.

-K1 visa is fiance visa, not married visa. Cr1/IR1 is the spouse visa( marriage).

You need to do a lot of reading and get a good understanding of the process .. not just the fees. K1 is just the start of the journey to becoming a US permanent resident. And only the first part of the $$$

It's the other way around, you get the K-1 and then you get married, in the US.

You gotta do research on the process, not just K-1, but what happens after K1 gets approved and the person enters the US and have to do AOS and ROC, .... Read the guides available on this website.

Like most have said CR1, is for a married couple and K1 is non married but wanting to immigrate to US and then marry and submit AOS for Green Card.

 

K-1 vs CR-1 Full Analysis
 
K-1
More expensive than CR-1    
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)    
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (about 5-6 months)    
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (about 5-6 months)    
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period    
Spouse will not receive Green Card for 10 to 12 months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
If you have red flags this may be the best place to start in case of denial.
Estimated timeline is approximately 8 to 10 months (NOA1 to Interview)  This is officially quoted as 6 to 12 months.

$1,225 per person - AOS Fee (Includes EAD/AP if filed together)

Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to the United States
If you are truly concerned about a denial, the K-1 may be a better place to start.
Estimated timeline is 10 to 12 months (NOA1 to Interview) This is officially quoted at 12 to 14 months.
