Getting Police Certificate straight after NOA2 Approval.

Hi All,

 

So I am a March filer (March 27th 2019 - NOA1)...hoping for NOA2 soon since I've seen other March filers get theirs!

 

Anyway, I'm wondering as the Police Certificates are valid for 12 months, is it okay to get one as soon as you get your NOA2 rather than waiting for your case to be transferred from NVC to your U.S. Embassy? I know it's one of the required documents for interview so was just wondering would there be any issue getting it earlier?

I don't see a problem....you won't need it after the interview......Planning ahead is always a good thing....good luck.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I got my wife's certificate after I received NOA 1. Had it in hand 6 months before the interview. I would get it now if you have NOA 1. Like you said, good for 12 months, and if it takes more than 12 months to get to the interview, there are bigger problems than a police certificate.

As long as it is valid at the time of the interview, it's fine.

You don’t need PC from US at all regardless of the time you spent.

Spouse:

2015-06-16: I-130 Sent

2015-08-17: I-130 approved

2015-09-23: NVC received file

2015-10-05: NVC assigned Case number, Invoice ID & Beneficiary ID

2016-06-30: DS-261 completed, AOS Fee Paid, WL received

2016-07-05: Received IV invoice, IV Fee Paid

2016-07-06: DS-260 Submitted

email your embassy as well to double check how long out they will accept it.

For immigration purposes it is valid for up to one year, for other purposes is anyone's guess
