Our CR Interview Experience

Here is our experience this morning...Most questions were asked by the Filipino pre processor. They asked about the denied K-1 and about all the paperwork.

We offered our police reports and court documents but he said it was up to the CO if he needed those. They took our Cenomar and thanked us for requesting the  Cenomar even though we are married. That is what they wanted to see. He mentioned that some people request a marriage certificate but what they get with the requested Cenomar is a list of all marriages and the disposition of the previous marriage. I ask about that since it has come up. Yes, even though you are married, they want you to request a  Cenomar. 

 

After that they got for fingerprinted. 

 

The interview was next and all the CO asked was where did we meet and when was the wedding. We were in the interview for about 10 minutes but most of the time was the CO typing and looking at his computer screen. He handed back the original paperwork which really scared us. There was so much silence until he told AJ that the visa would be void if he get married before entering the US and that he needs to register for selective service. There were no questions for the kids and after he told AJ to register for selective service he congratulated us and said our visas are approved so confirm the delivery method and we should have them in 2 to 3 weeks. 

 

We were really freaked out when they returned the paperwork to us!

Congratulations, hope the status changes to issued very soon. It seems like this second time around has been pretty smooth and somewhat fast, no? Feels like it wasn't long ago at all that I read about your denied K-1.

It felt much easier and smoother. Our K-1 was 315 day to the interview. The CR-1 was 287. So it was still a wile but it did feel quicker.

Is that paid after Issued and before POE?  Do they tell me how to pay it when we pick up the passports?

Pay before entering the USA, that way the processing of their green cards will start immediately upon clearing POE.

The CO never gave us anything. Does that come with the visa when we pick it up?

Don't know.  I do know it needs to be paid or USCIS will not start the processing for the green card.

When you get the packets back there should be a sheet with their A numbers (you probably have already from K1/K2).   Use that and your credit card to pay the fee.  Don't pay until you have the visas in hand. (The file has to be closed at DOS and flagged at USCIS).  At POE they ask if you paid it.   I gave them a copy of the receipt.  Mary got hers in 3 weeks, a little surprise after a trip to Vegas.

Update:  Both CR-2s are listed as “Issued” in CEAC. Rose is still listed as AP. Not bad for 1 day. Lol

I'm pretty sure Rose will not take it well if you joke "At least I can take the kids with me!"

 

Congrats.  I know it is hard to relax until you have it in your hands. We got delayed picking ours up due to a hurricane in Mexico.   Come to think of it the hurricane was Rosa.
