Does cat diabetes work like Type II in humans? If so, I concur with no insulin if no food. Gosh, if it were a human at this point, I might even just give them some straight glucose.

 

As a further note to that, it is pretty quick that a person can die from blood sugar that is too low, but the opposite is less dangerous and slower. There is a lot of care in the management of diabetes and I really think you should check kitty's blood sugar levels.

Yes it does mostly. You can sometimes eliminate diabetes in cats with diet alone.  Dogs are more like type 1.  They end up needing insulin forever even at a good weight.   Cats are harder to dial in with their doses because it fluctuates.
