I’m glad that the bridge traffic does not seem to be affecting businesses there.

Same here.  Maybe the robust U.S. economy is the key element.  Those poor people suffered enough through the drug-dealer hysteria, the porcina epidemic, and every other "if it bleeds, it leads" media fad.

Matamoros [...] lines there are really long, and has spent up to four hours in line when she goes on weekends.

Sounds like the only way to minimize this is to visit on weekdays.

Friends from Reynosa are avoiding coming to the valley unless necessary due to the lines.

Sigh.

I really wanted to shoot out to Rio Grande City to visit Cd. Camargo (nice little town).  Should make a point of that next time.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

So we have a discussion about visiting when 100,000 a month are fleeing across the same border.

Somehow there is a disconnect.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Visit ---> long wait-times returning ---> CBP personnel diverted from checking in visitors because of 100,000/month illegals ---> seems connected to me

I think he is referring to the conflicting stories of Illegals seeking safety north of the border but Americans seeking value south of the border concurrently

Exactly, hard time thinking of a historical similarity.

I am thinking this as well.

Ah -- clear now.

Can't think of anywhere else where a first-world & third-world country are jammed up against each other.

This leads to unique and potentially intriguing situations.

From what I have seen most are coming here illegally and having many anchor children whom are now voting, and soon they will be producing more democrats, its a good plan by the democratic party, not so good for the USA.

In some cases yes in some cases no, but either way many are bypassing the law by falsely declaring for asylum and forcing the border. The attitudes displayed when caught are not the type to invoke feelings of brotherly love and acceptance.

They do invoke feelings of love and acceptance to me. They are human after all. I'll leave it to courts to determine whether or not they have a legit case. In the mean time I'll continue to show compassion and love for people who to me look tired, scared, and lonely.

And that is your right, when they present with children with no shared DNA as a family, wearing clean relatively new clothes after a 1500 mile trrk through the desert, claim they don't care about American law they are coming regardless and return a multitude of times after being deported I choose  not to love them human or not since they choose an illegal path of entry that is causing great duress and expense to those on both sides of the border. We have our fair share of useless citizens I feel no need to import more or require them to earn their citizenship through the Military, public service or payment to the government

Well in CA you get free healthcare.
