I always laugh when one of my colleagues (I work in academia, so it gets said a LOT) starts talking about how the world is going to end if we don't eliminate our consumption of fossil fuels, close nuclear power plants, etc, etc, etc. I usually just ask them where they are going to get the electricity to charge their cell phones, i-pads and drive their electric vehicles?? One said well I live in my bus and don't depend on electricity. (she converted an old short school bus into an RV type bus). The truth is she has a gas powered generator, the bus runs on diesel plus she has to move it every morning and night to avoid parking tickets, has a 2nd gas guzzler car and she mooches electricity off her boyfriend by staying at his house most of the time. But boy does she hate Trump for "destroying the environment".

Isn’t hypocrisy grand?  I remember hearing a speech from a UN environment official saying we had to end all carbon emissions.  I don’t think he realized that would mean making the planet evoke of all animal life.

It's amazing how many people are in such deep denial about what is going on yet we don't even have to look that far to see the disaster (Alaska and Canada), good luck with that.

You know he means man made right? Without the animals we all die.

To which disaster are you referring?

 

I do think man has helped tip the scales towards more CO2 being around, with a combination of reducing foliage and increasing C02 output combined.  We need to re-forest our planet.  Thankfully, Chernobyl is doing just that, but it's not nearly enough.
