Didn't you guys have "AGE GAP--DETAILED INTERVIEW" written in red ink on your I-129F a few weeks back?  If so, from what you described it didn't sound like a detailed interview, but very basic questions about how you met.  So I wouldn't be worried at all because they didn't do a depth interview or a Stokes, and they kept the passport, all good signs, very normal.  Visas are never handed to you at the interview, they need to process paperwork and prepare the visa and attach it to the passport, normal processing time everyone goes through.  Come home to California, try not to worry, have a glass of wine, and soon you'll get the good news that the visa has been received by your fiance!  All the best to you both!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm less worried now, but still feel some trepidation because of what the CO told me. She said clearly..

"I have some administrative tasks to perform but I see no reason why I can't approve you by this afternoon."

That was friday morning.  As of today, CEAC still shows our application in AP. So either the CO was not completely truthful with me or they are questioning something they did not ask my fiance about.  I have faith, but it's still a horrible feeling not having the knowledge as of yet that we have been approved.  I watched as one person after another left the interview window with the small slip of paper saying APPROBADO.  Alas, my love and I neither got that small slip of paper not the larger DENIED paper.  It is stressful to be in limbo like this.

No. Just because they approved it, doesn't mean it it magically goes to issued. You are assuming she is literally the single person who stamps the visa into passport, which in reality it is more of a process where her approval is just one step off.

Does it show "non-immigrant" on CEAC site on top of it, above the "Administrative processing" bit? Different embassies work at different speeds, and while I cannot promise you with 100% certainty everything for sure will be fine, I can tell you the usual flow after the interview is "Immigrant Administrative processing -> Non-immigrant Application Received -> (very briefly) Non-Immigrant Ready -> Non-immigrant Administrative Processing (might be a week or so there) -> Non-Immigrant Issued"

So, so far, there is nothing abnormal about your processing steps.

You do realize it is the weekend,  secondly,  the next status is "issued" which even in normal circumstances could be a week or more.

The embassy has no reason to lie to you.  They are not shy about handing back the passport IMMEDIATELY  if you are denied

YMMV

@bdglen The waiting is the worst - we all feel your anxiety there.  I walked out of my K1 interview with the “Welcome to the USA” paperwork and A WEEK later it still hadn’t changed status and I was so anxious.  The time comes though, it’s just another part of the US immigration process where you need to dig deep to find as much patience as you can.  I sent an email follow up after like 10 business days, and then fiiiiiinally, it changed.  Hang in there and try to remember to breathe :)

Thank you, the waiting is really hard especially because we DID NOT get to walk away with the welcome to the USA paper. we got no paperwork. Nothing positive and nothing negative. So the only thing keeping me from completely freaking out is the fact that they kept his passport.

Hang in there, I completely understand and empathize with you two.  I have been watching your case for a long time, it is very much like ours, other than you did K-1 we did CR-1, and different country of fiance/husband but similar--Colombia and Brazil.  You are a few months ahead of us as well, we are currently done with NVC and are waiting for my husband's interview to be scheduled in Rio, our best guess for that is July.  This process is so crazy, so long, frustrating, all of those emotions plus you miss the love of your life so much... it's driving us nuts and then throw in the uncertainty of visa approval...    Good luck, you're almost done, soon you'll hear "approbado!"

It's been 0 working days since your interview.

There's more to AP than the CO approving the case. AP covers all tasks after the interview until they issue the visa. I'm sure it's happened, but getting issued the same day as the interview would not be the norm by any means.

Yes, it's possible there's more review for them. Maybe they discover something in final processing. Maybe they realize a document was missing. Maybe a supervisor needs to sign off on approval first.

But that is all speculation. Give them the time to process the case. Nothing moves quickly with immigration.

Congratulations!  Big relief and soon you two guys will be together.  So happy for you both!

I am finally taking a breath. But only for a minute. Tonio graduates from the University on the 24th then he wants to travel to Chile for a few days to say good bye to his Aunt, and then to San Francisco his new home. Now we are beginning to work on Tourist visas for two of his uncles to travel to SF for the wedding. Crossing my fingers.

Thanks again, you have been great help to me and Tonio during this stressful process. I hope I can pay it forward.
