Local US CIS Office Review: San Francisco CA

Event Description
Review Date : March 21, 2021
Embassy Review : We had out interview on February 2+, 2021. The officer asked me a few questions about my husbands family and asked my husband EVERY question on the original application. My husband was a bit nervous because we didn't hire an interpreter but I knew his English was good enough to get us through the interview and I was right, it was. The Officer offered and even tried to get an interpreter on the phone but the connection was so bad we told him it was not necessary. While we were waiting for the interviewer to come get us we witnessed several officers interacting with other applicants and they were all so friendly and pleasant. Our interviewer did not smile once and was not the friendliest person. I'm not going to say he was homophobic, but.... At the end of the interview he told us it would be about 30 days before we received a decision because they were "backed up". one week later we received a Request for evidence. My husband declined getting vaccinated in Bogota, so we had to provide evidence that he has been vaccinated. He is a member of Kaiser and had all his vaccinations done there, we downloaded his record of vaccinations but we had to make an appointment at an USCIS civil Surgeon so they could provide the vaccination record. $180 to simply forward what has already been done. UGH. We Fed-Ex the packet to the SF office and it was signed for and received on March 9, 2021 As I write this it is March 21,2021 and I'm a bit frustrated at the length of time it is taking. I follow similar VJ timelines at the SF field office and the one closest to ours, filed their I-485 two weeks before we file, they were interviewed one month before we were interviewed and the were approved the same day as their interview, they received their green card one week after the interview. It seems like such an arbitrary system, some officers move swiftly and others drag their feet. We got one who drags his feet. What really bothers me is that during the interview we told the officer that my husband had just completed an interview and he hoped to be offered the job. Well, he was offered the job the next day and we included that information in a letter to the interviewing officer asking that they expedite the process because of the job offer, but no one has bothered to contact us to let us know any kind of timeline or whether further information was needed. So, almost two weeks after satisfying the "request for evidence" we still know nothing. I'm trying to be parient, but the fact that there is absolutely ZERO communication is extremely frustrating.

All the best for tomorrow guys! I was just wondering when did you guys got your letter in the mail? I wanted to know how far out they are scheduling the interview after receiving the letter.

Thanks for your well wishes on our upcoming interview and the information about your own.  Today is the day and we're really excited. We received our notice of interview letter on January 23rd, so it was more than a month in advance of the interview.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
