@Filipi I tried calling USCIS but they were super confused about me asking for a case number for the i-612. How long did you wait to call them and how did you explain that it was for the waiver?

Thanks.

congrats J1 waiver happy for you.  Me too used the usps priority mail returned envelopes with tracking number, but i sent the A4 size envelope since on that day post office was out of smaller envelopes. Do you think that will matter?

Hi, Kr1234, What is the status of your application? I am newbie for this forum.

Finally got my Recommendation today!!!! So Happy!! Below is my timeline. Now I need to hope that USCIS goes faster because I still have an H1B application ahead!

Any tips on making USCIS go faster? Tell them I have a job offer that is just waiting for this waiver or something?

Hi LuizaT, when did your NOS sent to DOS? Mine is sent on March 19 and DOS hasn't had any update on the NOS.

My NOS was sent on Feb 13th. It took them a while to update it. I emailed DOS asking if they had received it. They didn't reply to my email, but uploaded the NOS 2 days later...

Hi okland,

I called them 3 times to get the case number, so yes, you may need some luck to reach the right person there. I asked specifically for the case number related to an I-612 filled by Department of State. I tried first in 10 days after DOS sent the favorable recommendation and they said they could not find my name there. I tried again in the next day, same thing, and finally I was successful 2 days later. Hope this helps.

By the way, I received notice of action with the approval yesterday (04/09), yay!, I didn't receive any letter from DOS and neither the notice of action from USCIS for receiving the case.

Congratulations!

No, I don't think that before processing timeline there is a way. In case J1 status expiration is close or there is a chance of losing job or financial loss, you can request congressman to contact USCIS on your behalf to expedite the process. But definitely, you should have a strong reason to go with this option, otherwise you must wait for routine processing time.

It takes couple of weeks for DOS to update NOS status. Plz check timelines in this thread. In my case, NOS was sent on January 20th and DOS updated receiving date as Feb 20th..
