Hi All,

My window period for ROC opens Feb 7th and I seem to have all in order for filing. My only question now is : Can I travel out the country while application is with USCIS? My GC card only expires in May 2019  and I plan on visiting home in March just for a week or two. Has anyone encountered issues WRT this?

Getting back on board...again for i751 for Removing of Conditions. February 4 was my opening day so by Thursday our package will be in the mail. I cant believe almost 2 years passed in a heartbeat. Hoping all are doing well and best of luck.

As far as traveling while filing you should receive a “...your conditional status is extended for one year. During one year you are authorized employment and travel”  letter and you should be good to go. Keep that letter/form with your green card and passport!

You should be ok if you are coming back before your 2yr GC expires in May. Your current card remains valid until then.

However, keep in mind once you file your ROC petiton, you might get a biometrics appointment notice.

AOS timeline:

12/21/2015: I-485 Received by USCIS

12/24/2015: I-485 NOA date

02/26/2016: Biometrics Appointment

04/04/2017: Interview @ Louisville Field Office

04/06/2017: I-485 Approved

04/12/2017: GC Received

ROC timeline:

01/06/2019: 90-day ROC filing window open

01/07/2019: Sent I-751 petition to USCIS Dallas Lockbox via USPS 2-day Priority Mail

01/09/2019: ROC package delivered by USPS to PO Box

01/14/2019: Received USCIS text message with receipt number starting with LIN-xxxxxxx

01/15/2019: Check cashed, Added receipt# to USCIS account (myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov), Current Status: "We received your case, You do not need to do anything at this time"

02/14/2019: Submitted e-request for non-delivery of receipt notice

Hi, I'm not too sure on where you need to file. Did you check the USCIS webpage for direction on where to file? I'm certain it will be the same place where you sent your paperwork previously, unless you have moved.

Thanks H-M,

URGH, It's tough to know when they will send notice for a possible interview...we intend on going to visit my home in March, haven't bought tickets yet....guess I might have to research timelines before doing so.

Isn't it surprising how quickly the 2 years have gone?  But my gut tells me that this time around will be far less stressful, but still playing the waiting game.

Our window opened January 17, but we're working with a lawyer and they didn't get everything gathered and sent until February 1.  Waiting for confirmation that they received our package.

You are OK to go.  Just remember that if you get a biometric appointment scheduled while away, you will need to reschedule it.

Thanks gregcrs2!

Had another question about support letters. When we filed AOS, my inlaws wrote letters etc...I have support letters from an ex manager and now dear friend, from our neighbor and was thinking of supplying a support letter from my Doctor. Do you think the letter from doc is too much?

I assume you are talking about affidavits.  I think they don't add much value if you can provide sufficient bonafide marriage evidence.  I have never used them.

Yes the affidavits. That's an interesting thought-never looked at that way before but have seen so many couples send them in anyway. I will think about that one a little more before compiling package. Thank you!
