Our NOA2 dated 11/28/18 stated they forwarded our petition to NVC. Then the USCIS status changed on 12/21/18 stating it was sent to NVC. It took them almost a month after approval to actually send it and NVC received it on 1/3/19. There are lucky people whose petitions get sent to NVC right away then there's those of us who have to wait longer. I'd say its normal.

So you mean the status on USCIS case tracker will be changed from "Case was received" to "Case was sent to NVC"? if it hasn't changed means that they haven't actually sent the case out even tho they sent the NOA2 out already?????

No no no no. Not necessarily. I wouldn't go primarily based off what the tracker and/or the website says. Many people have reported their status changing but they were not notified right away. Just speaking from experience in my own case, the tracker has always notified me when things actually happened. If you check other members timelines, you will see that NVC received many of their cases just a week or two after they got their NOA2. I'm not sure why it took longer for USCIS to actually send ours to NVC

oh I see! but actually the USCIS status has never changed since they have received our case, not even after NOA2. We got our NOA2 on 4/11/2019, but we're still waiting for a letter from NVC... we have sent two emails to asknvc@state.gov and NVCINQUIRY@state.gov, but still no replies from them. Should we actually call them? but I saw from other posts that it takes at least 30 mins waiting on the phone... Geez! this is torturing!

Yeah sometimes the USCIS website is unreliable. For example, the old USCIS site updated every step of the way and the new website still says "Case was received” even though my husband's interview is now less than 2 weeks away.

What's the date on your NOA2?  You can call NVC and ask them if they received your case yet and if they have, they will tell you the date. Then they will tell u wait 8 weeks from that date for case number email from them. It doesn't always take 8 weeks though..... I got our case number 6 weeks and 5 days after they received our case from USCIS.

And yeah the wait time to speak to a person is dreadful. I think the quickest they ever answered for me was 25 mins. And that's IF you don't get the message saying " due to high call volume we are unable to take your call at this time".

oh~~ can you give me the old website of USCIS?

the date on our NOA2 is 4/11/19, actually my fiance got the letter on 4/18/19. So we should call to make sure NVC has received our case, and count 8 weeks from then on?

Well, in fact I didn't expect the NOA2 comes so fast, I bought a ticket to the US to visit my fiance and attend his aunt's wedding on 6/24/19, and I was planning to stay for 3 weeks to prepare for the wedding say see some venues, try on dresses etc. Do you think I should change the flight?

Yes if USCIS approved and possibly sent your case off to NVC around 4/12, there's a strong possibility they would have it by now. And yes it could be 8 weeks (or less) from the date they tell you they received it before you get the case number.

Why would you change your flight?

Thank you 😃

Just in case they have the packet 3 sent to me when I am away... I mean, say they received the case in late April, 8 weeks later would be late June, and what if the packet 3 arrived when I was in the US?

Oooh I'm sorry. I just noticed that you are doing the K-1. You may have to disregard everything I just told you lol. I thought you were a CR1. I'm not sure but I don't think K1 applicants have to wait as long for a case number seeing as the NVC is not really involved in the processing of your case like they are with CR1. I would check the K1 forum and see, they might give you better answers https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/80-k-1-fiancee-visa-process-amp-procedures/

Sorry about that.
