Consulate Review: Guyana
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 17, 2019
Embassy Review : Our interview was scheduled for 08:30. We arrived at 07:45, and after what seemed like the longest, most chaotic security screening process we sat down and waited for our number to be called. First you’re called to one window to submit your documents then wait again for your name to be called. This took forever and we were called to the interview. They were more interested in me the petitioner, than my husband. Here are the questions: what kind of work do you do?
When did you meet?
Have either of you ever been married?
Do either of you have children?
To my husband: How old are your children?
Congratulations! However, since you shaved all your facial and head hair, I would suggest you go up the street and take 2 new pictures to avoid issues at POE, it’s up to you. We opted to. Got the pickup instructions and returned with new pics.

We were not asked to validate our marriage. No pics no nothing!

I had to come back to update: Things got even better when the day after the interview we received notice that the visa was ready to be picked up. My husband got there 35 mins before they closed. I’m bringing my man home y’all!

Congratulations your almost there.. yah. Unfortunately for myself and my husband we went for the interview on 1/4/19 and our case was put in Administrative Processing god knows what that means so we’re still waiting I email them frequently. Apparently the NVC SAY it’s our local embassy in Guyana that’s holding the case. Once it’s gone from USCIS to NVC it’s to Guyana and that’s where our issues lies.. Good luck take plenty of evidence and be polite and just answer all the questions truthfully..When your process is completed kindly make a review of Guyana embassy.

After thr notice that the file has been completed at the NVC did you have to do something before they gave you an interview date? Because ours has been complete for almost a month now and I have not had a notification for an interview date as of yet?

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
