Question about Passport style photo...

My fiance recently went to purchase a number of hard copy photos along with a digital copy for the DS-160. She had a nice collared polo shirt on, but they insisted on adding a digital shirt on the photos 🙄🙄. They thought doing so appeared "more formal". I think it was entirely unnecessary, and they did a terrible job. There is a obvious editing blur on the photos.

Is this going to be a problem? On one hand it seems benign enough, but It also seems to me that a photo for legal purposes shouldn't show blatant evidence of being doctored 🤷‍♂️.

Ehh..in my opinion it looks horrible....sheesh, why on earth would they add a shirt????

Who is "they" that doctored the photos?

 

I would not suggest submitting any photos that are altered. They probably wouldn't care as it's not the face, but it does not comply with the requirements.

Thats so odd... why did they do that?!

 

In my opinion, i wouldnt use them.. it would bug me personally, worrying about providing them as they are ‘edited’

Totally agree....submitting an obviously doctored photo is even worse.

 

Maybe you need to name and shame this company who did this so others can avoid them in the future...

And they didn't even provide originals?!?!

I used to work in the field of photography....that's just absurd. So first they tell you they need to add a shirt, then they don't even give the originals.

You should seriously consider showing this company the actual guidelines from US Department of State that say no doctored photos and ask for your money back.
