RFE....help?

I was born in NYC and my "original" birth certificate is clearly a copy, as it is a negative image (white letters on black background).

It was good enough to get my passport.

 

But in looking a the above instructions, I did feel it would be a problem, so I sent copies of my passport.

 

Having a passport makes one life a little easier.

He'll probably need to go get a certified "long-form" copy of the birth certificate. I ran into something similar when applying for my passport a couple years ago. I sent them the original and they rejected it, but accepted a certified long-form copy.

I'm now wondering if the one I have here is just a personal copy. And I would need to obtain the original as stated above.

he can also get one from the county of birth and is cheaper /  i walked in and got an original when i visited last year

no passport  we are suppose to have passport now for canada  and mexico  / didn't use to have to but we do now and the entry stamps are a good way to prove things

He can also send in a copy of all pages of his passport as proof of citizenship.

Oh I misread that he had. Then the certified long form BC is best.

If it is a closed adoption the long-form of the birth certificate is a sealed document.  He would have to petition the courts for it.  She is getting the certified birth certificate.  should be fine now.

I was so worried about this. So I spoke to a rep at Vitalchek and thankfully they will process a long form birth certificate of his amended birth certificate after his adoption was finalized as you are correct that the ORIGINAL is sealed.
