Hi everyone,

 

I went to the RiteAid to get 8x photos taken for my AOS application and they ended up costing me the outrageous sum of $30.

 

They looked ok to me so I brought them home and compared them to an older passport photo that I know was regulation and there is quite a disparity between the sizing of the photo. According to the US State dept regulations the new photo is taken way too close to my face, ie: my head takes up too much of the photo.

 

Do you think this photo will suffice, or should I go get more taken/ask for my money back? The photo on the left is the old (Correct) one and the photo on the right is the new (incorrect) one.

I would take them back and show them your previous photo......and ask them to repeat the photos...just my opinion.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Honestly, I'd be more concerned about the photo not being accepted due to the low exposure and shadow behind your head...

 

I'd either get it retaken by them (and bring a print out of the regulations with you), or eat the cost and go elsewhere....but up to you :)

i agree the visible shadow behind you look bad. Is there Costco in your area? They have photos for $5. I think Walmart does it too. Also, you can take your photo, format them to 4x6 and then print it out for $1 at same rite aid probably.

This is why I do selfies and run them through an online photo size or phone app.  

 

Then I run them through another app to get them 4 or 6 to a 4x6 print.  Costs a whole ten cents. For $10 you can buy a decent photo cutter.  

 

Yes the shadows are going to cause your photo to be rejected.  

 

If if you want a pro, make an appointment at the post office or JC Penney.

Thanks guys. I took the photos back to RiteAid and showed them to the manager and she agreed they were done wrong. They redid a batch that were much better.
