Medical/NBI/Cenomar Questions [split topic]

Hi! I am a beneficiary from the Philippines.

My fiancé emailed NVC and they replied to him with a Manila Number.

I have a few questions:

1. Can I start my Medical Exam at SLEC already and print that email we received from NVC with MNL case number even if our case is still at NVC according to CEAC?

2. I registered online for an NBI clearance, there is now way I can customize the “purpose” of the clearance because it is automatically populated by NBI so it is stated in the purpose type: “local” and purpose of application “multi-purpose clearance” - is this ok or it has to be specified that it is for K1 visa?

3. When I order a CENOMAR online,  is it necessar  to put the US Embassy for the address or the recipient of the CENOMAR or is it advisable to order 2 copies,  1 for me and 1 for the embassy?

Thank you very much for all your help!

2019 is a great year for all of us!!!

NOA2: Nov 30

NVC Received: January 2

Those are questions that should be asked in the Philippines sub-forum as others are not familiar with your embassy. Link is at the bottom my information here.

Also, there is a sub-forum for the Philippines here on VJ that you should be a part of. It's a good place to read what others are experiencing which will only prepare you for your interview.

The above country-specific posts were split from a general thread in the K-1 Case Progress subforum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

3. When I order a CENOMAR online,  is it necessar  to put the US Embassy for the address or the recipient of the CENOMAR or is it advisable to order 2 copies,  1 for me and 1 for the embassy?   CENOMAR should be sent to you, then you hand carry it to your interview.    You could get two if you want, CFO will ask for a copy

Thank you very much for all your help!

1.  Some have been successful using the pre shipment email from nvc.  Your petition will ship Wednesday next week and then you will have the official nvc letter

2 multipurpose

3. If you want the CENOMAR to go directly to the embassy then use there address.   If you plan to hand carry to the interview use yours

YMMV

They have the response email from NVC with the MNL# already.

CENOMAR should not be sent directly to the embassy as they are preparing for their initial interview.

They don't have the barcode letter because the petition has not yet shipped

Embassy preference per the website is to send directly to them so it is an option

Don't need an NVC letter with a barcode to complete the medical  (in fact you don't need that for anything in the process),  NVC letter with the MNL # is all that is asked for by St. Luke's.

As for sending documents directly to the embassy ..... HUH!!!???    Where the H .. did you pull that from in regards to the K-1 interview???    The embassy checklist for the K-1 states to bring the documents.

Please bring all the required documents to your visa interview to facilitate same-day approval. Note that you risk SIGNIFICANT DELAYS by failing to bring all documentary requirements to your interview. It is strongly recommended that you RESCHEDULE your visa interview date if you are unable to bring all the required documentation below.

Gee.  I don't know.

CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE (if applicable). Applicants who are single and have never been married (18 years and older) are required to obtain a CENOMAR from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The request for a CENOMAR is a standard measure adopted in Manila to ensure that a visa applicant does not have any concealed, unterminated prior marriage to anyone, which would eliminate his / her claim to the single status of the visa category sought. To request a CENOMAR be directly submitted to the US Embassy (recommended), you may do so here: https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Secure/Terms.aspx

NBI too...

  • Please note that an NBI Clearance with an AKA is also required. Police clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names that may have appeared on other civil documents (e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.), even if these names or spellings have never been routinely used. Please refer to the NBI website http://www.nbi.gov.ph for additional information. You may request NBI to directly submit your NBI clearance to the US Embassy (recommended) here: https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/

Interesting contradictions.

Still would BRING them as stated at the beginning of the checklist ....

..  but you can have them sent and let everyone know how that worked.

During all my years here on VJ I have NEVER heard of anyone sending anything to the embassy without first being prompted by them. How is @Hank backpedaling? He clearly said to "go ahead and do that, then let us know how it worked out".

"Reccomended" seems like a prompt

We are interview ready so it's a little to late for me
