Sent off our i129f, got back form I-797C a week later

So we sent off our i129f, and got back our entire packet (original docs, intent forms, travel docs, everything etc.) with the notice that we must resubmit our forms with the correct fee. I sent in 540$, just in case anything went wrong with the payment. “I don’t know, extra money couldn’t hurt” was what was going through my mind, but it seems they want EXACTLY $535. It says in the notice to send the correct fee, everything else seems to be perfectly fine with the forms thankfully, except they wrote on the bottom of every single document of what I sent in, even our supporting documentation.

My question: Am I supposed to redo this entire i129f, with original signatures (i.e., signatures from my fiancé across the world for the letter of intent), or just redo and resubmit the i129f forms since they wrote on them with the correct payment? Thank you for reading this far if you did! I’m so sorry, could never be too safe. Thank you again everyone.

Yes you must send exact amount. 535.00 I've seen other cases on here where it has happened. Even 1.00 more will cause them to send it back.

Thank you Jeanita (:, if you also know, should I redo my i129f again and put the current date on it? Or leave it as is? What they did was stamp/write on the bottom of all forms they sent back to me, even supporting docs. Thank you for your help so much 🙂 and if you don’t know, I absolutely understand.

Yes, exact fees are required at every strep in the process. USCIS doesn't give change and cannot take more than their fee.

You can just fix what's wrong and re-send. New forms are not necessary (except in the rare cases where the form edition is no longer accepted).

Thank you so much Geowrian (‘: this helps a ton, and makes me feel a bit more at ease. All I seem to have to do is resend only $535 and not $540 and that seems to be it, it makes me really happy that that’s all they seem to have found wrong with our packet so early on and have already gone through it all, as indicated by them writing all over our packet as well. If I may ask, do you think it’s sure that I don’t have to resend new forms and only have to fix what’s wrong? Thank you so so much again for all of your help (:.

This happened to us too!... first my fiancé did a money order and it was sent back saying it was an incorrect fee, so he decided to do the credit card form and sent that with the SAME documents and they accepted it :)
