Can I send a binder packet

I tried to search on this site to see if anyone sent in a binder with their docs. Is it ok to send a binder or the documents has to be in a file folder?.

 

I am filing for my husband in Jamaica and we have a lot of evidence (not too overwhelming) for our case but I put everything in a binder and the papers  are in sheet Protectors.

If you want to make USCIS staff hate you, send it in a binder with page protectors, so that the first thing they have to do is disassemble all that before building their own file.  The only requirement is an "envelope".  A single binder clip would be nice but the papers are not going to shuffle themselves in a Priority Mail envelope free from the Post Office.  

 

As for your evidence, I advise you to pair it down.  Concentrate on EXAMPLES of how and how frequently you communicate.  Nobody has time to read a novel as part of the petition adjudication or visa application processes.  As you pare down and disassemble what's in your binder, just keep in mind how somebody else would feel having to deal with all that.

Will they accept it? Sure. Will the poor low-level worker that has to take it in, scan it, etc., regret his life choices as a result? Maybe.

I would keep them in the sheet protectors and ditch the binders.

 

Also, in case you haven't done so, you need to copy all of your documentation.  I also recommend scanning it all and keeping it for your electronic records.

they have to scan in each and every page. SO whatever you do to organize or make it pretty, is not pleasing them, it is annoying them.

 

I sent mine in plain file folders and organized based on what it was (forms, relationship evidence, copies of original documents, proof of meeting/travel evidence, etc). nothing fancy or pretty at all.

I concur with pushbrk and geowrian. Keep it simple. Also, with regards to the evidence, make sure you’re sending evidence of substance and not just “a lot”. More doesn’t equal better or solid.

 thanks for the response. As for our evidence it is about how we met, evidence of travel, evidence Of Communication, evidence Of marriage and joint accounts etc and the forms needed,So it is not too much that will overwhelm them.
