I am the last one on this boat. I sent the package on the 27th of November 2018 got my electronic NOA 1 on the 30th.

Quick question

Is everyone going to have a RFE always?

Not quite sure what are you asking. Not everyone will get RFE, but I am pretty certain SOME will get an RFE. In most cases it is not a big deal, small mistakes, or adjudicator missing something and being super meticulous. If you do get an RFE, you only get one that will list all the things they need.

Filed on the 21st and got NOA1 of the 29th.

Have any of you started preparing packet 3? When would be the best time to do it?

You can start preparing for the interview using the P3 as your checklist anytime. Keep in mind that there are some documents that are time sensitive and others that can't get started without the case number.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

RFE's are only for those who have not submitted all their documents in the initial application and some are for missing documents and others for missing information on the I-129f like a check box.

Where do you get the P3 from?

P3 also know as Packet 3, is what embassy sends you. A list of documents to prepare for the interview.  It tend to vary a little bit by country. Since some of the documents required there are time limited, it doesn't make sense to start working on it TOO soon. But certain things you might try to get. Police certificates for example. Those are good for a year.

So it depends how strong is your initial application, I was looking a lot of profiles here and notice that most of them have RFE, thanks!

Will I really need to send the entire i 129 package to my beneficiary when the time comes for his interview?

The I-129 is not needed for the interview. The embassy has it on their computers. Everything is becoming digitized so no need.  Now some send a scanned copy of the form only, not the back up "stuff" so that the beneficiary has a good idea of the petitioner's background. You never know when and if you will be asked for some obscured detail "like petitioners mothers maiden name" and it catches you off guard. Will they ask that question, I don't know as each embassy and each process to achieve your visa is different for each country.  To know is to know.

You get it from the Embassy. Here are some links that you should read over to give you a better idea of what to expect going forward.  If you get a P3 from Russia would you be so kind as to share it with me as I do not have a copy. Thanks.

Hey! We sent our packet on November 27 and it was received on December 3 and got our first NOA via text on December 6. Would we be part of this group or December’s group?

I think these monthly threads go by the NOA1 date. Which is a date you should see on your paper I-797C form under "Notice date" Not that it really matters. There is no rule that doesn't say you cannot post or lurk in other threads. ;)

Usually how long after you get the text/email does the paper I-797C come ?

You should get it any day now, if you haven't yet. Sign up for USPS informed delivery https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action to make sure you don't miss letters.

You can email it. Why are you asking, will it be a problem for you guys?

It isn't a problem.  I just didn't want to have to send a package to Colombia.  But I see now I won't have to or can just scan it.
