Floirida Driver's License Refused Due To Pending Status Adjustment

My wife got her learners permit nearly a year ago. Today she got her DL. They could not give her the full 8 year DL because of the pending status on her 'green card' with Homeland. She was still able to get her DL, but it will expire soon, because it is just the upgrade from her learner's permit. The clerk said that as soon as Homeland clears this up, she can get her 8-year DL.

Honestly, I am not quite sure what she was talking about. She said we should call Homeland Security to ask them to update the pending status. Yeah, right. Any thoughts or advice?

My husband got her learners permit but by time he got his license he already had gotten his green card so no issues on our end.

Best advice is as soon as she receives her green card just go back to the DMV and show them and explain it so they can re-issue a new drivers license with appropriate expiration date. Wouldn't call home land security, they will probably just laugh.

Should run until her EAD expires.

She already has her Green Card. It expires in 2020. The clerk told her that the green card is in pending status. They told her to call Homeland Security about it.

Sounds like a DMV issue.

If it expires in 2020, her DL should be good until then. What is the expiration date on the DL?  Once she gets her 10 year green card, she will be able to get an 8 year DL.

Her DL expires next month. All they could do was upgrade her learner's permit to a full DL. Her permit was just a 1-year permit, so the expiration date did not change. According to the clerk, she cannot renew her license until her green card is out of pending status. How do we make that happen?

GC in pending status? ... Hmmm, I would go back and talk to someone else or visit another place.

She should have been granted DL, valid at least, till 2020. Some States do even better - people get 'regular" DL, valid for 6-8 years (depends on State) with conditional green card.

Go to another DMV.

It sounds like the save system ha not been updated with the fact that the GC has been issued. Get with no land or Uscis to get this resolved. The DMV I assume checks the system when a green card is shown and that. System still shows that things are pending and they can not issue with a pending status. No matter that you have the physical card.
