Ok one more question.  Once we paid the fee we were greeted with the ability to make the appointment.

We clicked on Schedule your appointment it and it didn't show us available dates, it just said it will be reviewed.

Does this mean I can schedule, or should I wait for them to acknowledge they received my package 3 documents (affidavit, ect.)

Should we have waited to mail all the documents prior to clicking this?

You cannot schedule in Germany until you get the email from them to schedule. You have to wait until you get the P3 in the mail (not sure if you did yet), send back all the info, then wait for them to email you P4. For us it took two weeks after we sent back the P3 until my fiancé got the email to schedule the interview. He had paid a month before that (before he even got the P3...that took a few weeks too after the consulate received the application).

Does Frankfurt make you mail things in prior to the interview?

Yes the entire packet and all supporting documents. And then took several weeks for us to get P4 which is when you schedule the interview. Very German of them to require everything in advance and correct before even scheduling. On the plus side it sounds like the interviews are very short!

Thank you for the response, since Xmas break is in the way, we are guessing it will be 3 weeks before we get the package 4 email.  Once you did, how far out were the dates to schedule the appointment?

We got it on December 17th and the next available was January 10th. Then they had every Thursday in January after the 10th so it seems as if they are pretty much done from now until January 10th. I would not expect to hear much back from them between now and then unfortunately. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas we've lost a lot of days! But we're getting there!

Does anyone know if the beneficiary can travel WITHIN the USA on an airplane by just using their foreign passport while waiting for AOS and AP? I know he can't leave the country, but just wondering if there are any issues with regular domestic air travel. Trying to book a trip in the summer. I tried searching but didn't come up with an answer.

Shouldnt be an issue. You just need an ID (passport for non USC). Technically you aren’t leaving US, so shouldnt be an issue.

Any info on whether the government shut down will affect the US Embassy visa process?

There has been a lot of discussion throughout the threads so you must have missed them. No it will not affect the process currently as your kind donations have so far been enough to keep them open. If they burn through that money you'll here more. Follow the website for USCIS and DOS to see any changes. Of course keep reading here in VJ. If there any changes you will see it talked about.

HI ALL !!!

So My fiancé interview was on DEC 19 .. Approved  ( US EMBASSY -Baghdad/IRAQ )

VISA issued on DEC 27 !

Still Waiting to receive visa in hand .

I am with her in Iraq for the holidays and looking to bring her with me home as soon as she receive her passport .

Question : instead of boarding directly from IRAQ to USA , Can she go with me on Vacation to Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia for 10 days  THEN from Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia we fly to the USA with one way ticket ??

OR she have to fly from her origin Visa issued country ( IRAQ) to USA for the K1 visa entry ?

Thank you in advance .

As long as you don't enter USA, it doesn't matter what you do before that.
MAKE SURE there are no transfers in USA (which doesn't look like in Your case). Once you enter USA, You CANNOT (Shouldn't) leave until you've got GC or Advance Parole.

They won't be bothered about one-way or round-trip tickets, as usually round trip is a lot cheaper than one way, and they care less where you enter from.

Be sure to research the Malaysia visa requirements for both a USC and a citizen of Iraq before departing otherwise @PaulMac has given you a solid answer.

That depends on your level of pain. If you can deal with everything that is needed for a trip to Malaysia, then I say go. If not, mini vacations are fun in the USA and your fiancé will see all the splendor and wonder of the USA. My wife loves to travel in the US. She can't get enough.
