I didn't see one of these so I thought I'd start one! We were married on 8/18/18 and sent our package on 9/18/18. Our lawyer advised against including the G-1145 so we're waiting on good old-fashioned snail mail but it should be here any day now 😁

Who else filed this month?

Why did your lawyer advise against G-1145? It's simply a request for electronic notification. I swear I've seen so much weird and unnecessary advice from lawyers... it's there for your convenience, it makes no difference at all in the application.

Anyway, hope you get the NOA1 soon! Good luck.

It was my husband that spoke to the lawyer about it but the gist of it is the information on the form is often inputted incorrectly (I believe that because I've definitely read people here talk about submitting it and not getting an email) and it's better if we keep our package as simple as possible.

Thanks, you too!

Hi! I believe that when the fee is deducted that means that they've accepted your package so that's a good sign! I've heard 7-10 days for the NOA1 is pretty standard, but I don't think that includes mailing time. Did you include the G-1145 for email notifications? If you didn't, you should be getting it in the mail soon 🙂

thanks!😀 and I did submit the G-1145 the same time! will we still get it in the mail if we signed up for email? hopefully will get the email or mail soon!

I signed up when I did my petition in 10/2017. You will get notification that your petition was received. A USCIS Acceptance Confirmation followed by the hard copy (I-797) via mail indicating your receipt number where you will be able to follow your status online through the USCIS website.

Hi,

I have a question - my spouse (US CITIZEN) is planning to file  I-130, my spouse lives currently outside the United States but on visitor status in Canada. So do we have to send our application to chicago lockbox or we can do DCF

Secondly, do I (beneficiary) have to include my passport and birth certificate with I-130?

There is a very helpful guide for the IR1/CR1 process on this site. I recommend starting with the guide and then also checking out the Canada forum for Canada specific questions.

My package was received on 9/26. Fee was deducted from my account on 10/2. Have not heard anything back from them yet. I didn't even know there was a such thing as G1145 =(, no idea how I missed that. I think I overlooked it since it is optional.

Does fee deduction mean everything was accepted or simply that they have begun reviewing my petition?

Fee deduction means that they have accepted your package. They won't start reviewing it for quite a few months (I believe the average is 6 but it depends on where it was sent). If you fill out your timeline I think it'll give you an estimate of when it will be approved once you get your PD.

We sent a certified cheque so I don't know if we can even check to see if it's been cashed or not and I'm getting nervous since we sent ours on 9/18 and haven't heard anything yet. Ours was sent to the Phoenix lockbox and I know in the past they've been slow, and that technically anything under 30 days is normal, even when most people get their NOA1 in about 10 days, but I'm just so anxious!
