New I-129F form?

Hello!

On the USCIS site, it claims that a new version of the I-129F form is underway and that the current form will be expiring on 8/31. I am compiling the paperwork as of now for application later on this year, so I am anxious to use the new form. By experience, does it usually get uploaded on the same day that the previous form gets expired? What is the usual time for USCIS to upload it?

Sorry if I seem neurotic. I've been refreshing the page a lot.

Thank you!

There's no way to know when a new edition will be uploaded. You can continue to use the current form until a new version is available.

The 'expiration date' on USCIS forms is for internal USCIS purposes only.

Just check back with the USCIS forms site before you finalize your documents and submit your petition.

If you're planning to file later this year, there's plenty of time to get the new form after it's released. However, if you're really anxious about it I recommend just waiting a few days into September before checking again. Don't cause yourself so much stress, at this point; there will be plenty of wait time later in the process for that. :)

Actually I can understand this concern after the announcement that USCIS would not send any more RFE but return applications after september 11 and one recent post on here said an application was refused (not sure what process the app was for) but it was refused for being on the wrong form

still wondering if they return the application and keep the money as it is an expense for USCIS to mail packet back.

What expiration date?

I read the part that mentions the new edition coming soon but did not see where it mentions an expiration date.  Usually when they publish a new form the let the old forms be used for a couple of months without an issue.

If the petition is rejected, they return the entire packet, including payment.

If the petition is accepted but then denied, they take payment for adjudication of the petition.

There's an expiration date in the top right corner of the first page of the form under the OMB number. If you don't know how those work, it can be concerning when that date is close to today.

It still says to continue using the 04/10/17 edition on the Edition Date tab of the USCIS' I-129F page.  Until it says any different there is nothing to worry about.
